HPal question

So i just stepped into arena for the first time as a healer and man it’s rough.

I can usually go to murlok . io and copy what the best hpals are doing spec/gear/talent wise but i still haven’t got a good grasp on the gameplay.

2 part question:

1). when do you use short HoJ, when do you go Blind, and When do you go Rep?

i’ve been mostly sticking to blind when i think i might be the target or teams that stack (melee cleaves).

i take short HoJ when i don’t know what to pick

and i’ve only used Rep a couple times and i mostly use it against healers without a fear or kick available in 2s

anyone able to give me a better idea how to use this?

2nd: i need some hpal streamers or youtubers to watch. im sure i’ve collected a few but if anyone knows any good ones i may not have heard of throw it out there please

So avoid taking rep when you have another spammable incap dr i.e poly, trap. Avoid taking blind if you’re running with heavy DoT classes or something with a fear dr.

Fast hoj is good to take when you need to hoj for setup and blind is good for having super long CC chains. So for example if you’re running WMP taking fast hoj for more consistent sheeps maybe be better whereas if you’re running rmpally having blind is better for the longer cc chains.

So in the WMP example, I think taking fast hoj is overall better, but its not like taking blind is bad, if you feel like you need an extra long cc chain and can easily sheep the healer (like another holy pally), then blind can be better.

Rep is good in comps like WW/boomy/hpal or war/boomy/hpal, anything where you maybe want an incap dr. Another time to use rep esp in 2s, can be to rep something like a holy ward from a priest off.

As for streamers,

borngood still streams occasionally
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1454592886 plays like all healers but I linked a hpal vid
In this last cup also in NA brain and absterge played hpal could find those games too, but thats awc cup 4 on youtube.

Short HOJ, afaik from gzy, is never played. Basically always go blind because you want to setup goes and have alternating big goes. Basically it acts as a rogues Blind. He never plays rep, might be due to the comps we play but yeah.

I would recommend Gzy, but he doesn’t stream or do yt or anything. But I think he’s a person you can learn the most stylistically from just due to the fact that he’s never content with how he is right now, and always looks to improve. Outside of him, Drainer, Cdew, (Crusader kek), and even Snowmixy are actually all good people to watch and learn from.

Im a duelist xp holy so my playstyle is obv diff than glads/r1

Double melee I go blinding light
I only go rep vs say priest/feral/x where there’s minimal room for the enemy team to range kick you
I dont like short hoj in shadowlands just because the games end quick

2s are easier for you to learn how to use rep in especially if it’s a healer/dps team

My 2 cents

avoid taking rep in any game where spamming rep is either useless or heavily punishable, unless you know your opponent is unworthy of your respect

yes i’ve seen gzy at the top of the hpal rankings but know nothing about them. Would be cool if they streamed or there was a way i could learn from them. I guess i’ll stop takin short HoJ. Blind is my new fav anyway and it seems like the one that is most useful in more situations

Hey I think we queued last night, and I just want to say, you do really well. It’s just going to take some practice. Get used to dying and seeing what you could do different next time. Focus on nailing the dispels and trading cds and you get rating no problem. Awareness was solid for a first time healer.

I would think short HoJ can be used most efficiently in 2s with certain classes like uhdks, hunters, and fire mages. With anything else, rep and blind help with better overall control.

In 3s, rep and blind are the better picks in general. Anything hpal/fire/melee, I’d assume blind would be the ideal pick, whereas rep helps a ton when used as a follow-up cc to fears/clones (so ideally hpal/lock/x or hpal/feral/x, or hpal/boomy/x). I think the only time when short HoJ would be appropriate is when you play shatter (fire/sp/hpal) or MLP.

The best I can offer is learning from him indirectly through my stream, but that’s the best I can do for him. He’s hands down one of my favourite people to play with on any healer, but mostly his hpal.

Amazing guy to actually learn how to “play the script” with, because, atleast with me, it’s a matter of going A->B with no issues.

But prepare to laugh if his brother is in the call with him.

It depends on the comp on top of the above statements. if you go blinding light or rep with a dot class like Aff lock. you’ll end up removing the dots. mainly its what you’re comfortable with. I mainly go Blind when its a comp like Walking dead or double melee.

Rep against a single kick comps like priest - DPS.

Short hoj default.

It also depends on your play style. HPal is a aggressive healer especially with necro lord being top dog.

oh yea that was me! thank you i made an appreciation post about you guys helping me out on r/worldofpvp called “positive lfg experience” and it got over 100 upvotes lol

thanks again!
