HPal feels disappointing in pre-patch

I’m having blast as disc and rdruid. But HPal experience is rough in pre-patch. I’m struggling to keep up with other healing classes. Every review for Cata scream for greatness of HPal. I like new holy power mechanic and enjoy zero mana issues but I feel weak with subpar beacon, FoL/DL spam and cone element of LoD. Is it because we gonna get Holy Radiance only at lvl 83 or maybe learning curb in current content. I’m not sure. Cannot find any good guide if anyone can suggest me one.

Hpal feels absolutely insane to me, this my favorite version ever.

For pve itll improve a lot once you get Radiance and GotAK. Also the scaling just feels way better in general at 85.

If you’re comparing it in a pre-patch raid I guess it’s probably just that they’re lacking their main AoE heal for now.

I actually find it more amusing to play pally than resto druid in 5 mans currently (I leveled a priest pally and druid recently on a new server to get ready for Cata). Resto druid mastery in Cata is annoying to deal with I think compared to their mastery changes later on. Druids have to maintain that short duration buff and maintain a short duration 3 stack lifebloom. It’s unfortunate they hadn’t changed lifebloom to a single stack at this point.

Holy paladin has the best version of their mastery in Cata, the one people have been asking to get back since they changed it. In 5 mans you can also heal mostly with instant casts and infusion procs unless you have a undergeared tank.

Since I’ve been doing a lot of heroics and gammas to cap points I also enjoy exorcism spam in ICC 5 mans (or anything with undead especially). Wrath spam is less amusing, I don’t even really want to spec 5 points into it on Druid even though that’s what people say to do.

Atonement is alright on priest, though I actually like just maintaining aegis on the entire party at times with PoH. Bubbles everywhere and hardly any damage taken.

I love those procs, especially when you’re building holy power.

Tried to play as I would at 85 first week of prepatch in ICC, mana bar didn’t move but I was pretty upset with the throughput.

Swapped to basically only FOL/HS for this weeks lockout (and the rest of prepatch since uh…yea) because it sucks feeling useless.

Damage profiles matter. Divine Radiance matters. Level 85 scaling matters. That 30% buff in ICC was ultra-ego inflating as well.

Raids on PTR had me feeling more relevant-keeping up with the competition of an Rdruid and Disc (10M), and yes, 3 healers, so don’t give up hope just yet, but I was feeling the same.

Edit: Well, I feel honored to be the only one responding with the ability to be WCL stalked. To the person below me that isn’t being outhealed by anyone, what content is that, and how bad/large is your healing team? Any tips? Always looking to do better.

I play a Hpally and nobody beating me in heals…its insane right now.

The Vengeance mechanic for tanks is the real Ultra Ego. Wait, you didn’t mean that kind of Ultra Ego…

Not sure how good this is but here…

It might switch to hungarian while switching sections but there’s an english version for most of it.

Holy pala at 80 is extremely strong.
Focus on haste as main stat then mastery second.
Use crusader strike often to get more holy power during downtime.
Those are just simple things I can suggest atm.

I have devent gear, ToGC bis from before i took a break, but I have had flash and WoGs for like 40k.

Basically all my heals can heal someone from 0% to 100%

Luckily it’s only prepatch

My memory of healing as hpally back in the day was that they were amazing raid heals(especially in 10ms), but that dungeon healing felt like I was always trying to keep up with the rest of the group.
