Hey forum,
What are the hpals here thinking about the recent changes to their direct heals (significant buffs it seems like) and nerfs to dmg? Are the comps they fit into going to change much?
Hey forum,
What are the hpals here thinking about the recent changes to their direct heals (significant buffs it seems like) and nerfs to dmg? Are the comps they fit into going to change much?
baseline 20% buff to flash
pvp baseline buff 20% to holy light
both interesting
but come at the cost of a
so holy light even with favor / infusion is going to feel REALLY bad
however the new lights grace damage reduction going from 3 stacks of 5% to 1 stack of 15% at a shorter duration will feel really good for hpal x wizard comps (looking at this making spriests feel REALLY durable) legion rsham earth shield style
flash is also buffed by 25% with lightsgrace
another weird change that makes you WANT to press flash
but you’re severely punished for doing so
hpal ladder mana is currently on par with discs which is dramatically worse than rsham/rdruids and to a lesser extent hpriests (unsure about mw, the mana regen is huge)
you’ll likely feel like if you ever have to cast you’ll tilt
holy light will do literally nothing but apply a 15% wall
and flash of light will cause you to throw chunks of your mana out the window that will never return because of the lazy ugly regen nerf
hpal will probably continue to be less versatile as gear increases being banished to god comp or similar double wizard comps and will require you to look for drinks at every opportunity from the time the gates open
could see arcane/assass/hpal and spriest/feral/hpal being viable alternatives
but almost any hpal comp on ladder will likely trade for rdruid
Paladin is a really boring class, after playing 1 or 2 week as paladin, I changed playing other class.
yea just eyeballin these changes, and it seems like they’re nerfing holy light and trying to encourage hpals to press flash of light again. Seems like an overall nerf and thus far the pvp ‘talent rework’ looks pretty bland for us so far. One new RNG talent so far it looks like we’ll be taking the same 3-4 pvp talents we took the last like half decade.
With the mana nerfs this season seems like a pretty big recipe for disaster for hpals next season.
We’ll see how all the changes shake out though. I feel like there still more to come.
They’re pretty much become worse version of 8.1 Hpal, which is already terrible.
Worse Infusion, worse Favor, worse Sac, worse mana.
If they want to promote Infusion of Light playstyle they should bring back BFA Infusion. Atm, only play Hpal if you have friends that benefit from BOP/Sac.
Watching the hpal tears is enjoyable. Been S tier for how long now? Sadly they’ll still be better than MW. Enjoyable as I said, nonetheless
I agree with the nerfs. Hpal has been the dominate healer this entire expac in both PvE and PvP give other healing classes a chance.
Feels like they could still be tourney & ladder viable with their instant and robust burst heals. Only weakness they’d have rn is being abused on mana if they’re not looking for drinking opportunities. Hopefully these changes allow us to better distinguish between which player purely excels at playing hpal to which player plays it for certain advantages.
I hate the 9.1 changes.
I feel like burst damage is the last thing pallies still had that made them interesting a 20% damage nerf which we are receiving due to pve feels really bad.
Also the push towards FoL seems bizarre as mana was already our biggest issue and flash is incredibly mana inefficient.
The lights grace change actually would be ok if they weren’t nerfing the buff time from 8 to 5 seconds.
Hate the direction they are going with the class do I think we’ll be playable in 9.1 that will depend on fire mages.
Right now hpal is still fairly strong due to our synergy with fire mages. When not paired with fire mages a different healer (in most cases r druid) is a better option.
However if we go to a frost mage meta I don’t really see a scenario that you’d ever want an hpal.
Who knows though.
Psure there are a few melee comps out there which could perform really well w/ hpal. I think fire will be decent still so def won’t see a massive decline with any hpal/fire/x comps. The klepto nerf was big and it’s probably the main triggering factor to why frost/rdruid/x will be incredibly potent.
If they revert the mana nerf given to hpal a few months ago, it’d put them back in a good spot. But I don’t think they’re going to be awful in any other way besides the mana aspect.
Comps like smokebomb and ebola could be very fun and strong. 9.1 is kind of giving some WoD vibes.
There are no melee cleaves rn that hpal is preferred with.
Playable yea we prob won’t be as bad as monks were this season but we won’t excel at anything.
I have serious issues with the damage nerf though like I strongly believe healers should be given more offensive power and tools to help close out games.
Finding windows to throw damage globals should feel rewarding. These changes just push us more towards afk and heal.
Holy pally will still be the best healer in the game for arena
I’d say hpals were the only healers that are crushing in terms of dmg on live. Idk if this change was intended towards PvE or PvP, but I think the dmg nerf was somewhat warranted, but maybe not to this extent. I preferred WoD hpal iteration where FoLs and casted WoGs were more utilized making casting very essential but ig the healing rotation and design philosophy was a bit different back then. I think a good solution for this is either buffing FoLs mana cost and decreasing cast time of holy light by .5 sec or just buffing overall mana regen for the spec.
? Rdru is already better
he mains rdruid don’t say that
