But, that’s pretty much what Warmode has done for pve servers… never do you see “village is under attack” anymore. World defense doesn’t have calls to help defend a town. It’s just dead with Warmode off. I don’t know about warmode on, you’ll have to tell me what it’s like.
To get open world PvP back, the shards and Warmode would have to go. Bring back PvP and pve dedicated servers, with no sharding. We play on our server, not shard to make the game “feel full”. Should have just merged servers…
Balance, true balance really can’t happen, because tuning for PvP balance would screw up the sacred raiding balance. The two groups would have to be completely separate.
Pve servers would need to be pve tuned and gear, PvP would need the same, tuning and gear specifically for PvP, and those two groups should never meet up in a BG.
FULL pvp specific talent trees that are not affected by ridiculous mass overtuning caused by elite Mythic+ and Raiding environments that have zero authority over PVP environments.
i am not sure, considering pvp is not WoWs strongsuit to begin with. Unless it was World pvp and had a lot of content behind it for everyone. It’s own world pvp leveling/ ranks, unique mounts, titles, cosmetic gear. It would have to be very engaging cause I feel like world pvp can be a strong suit in WoW if properly implented. As for rated arena, it needs a new rating system entirely instead of inflating and deflating ladders, especially for solo Q. I do not think it needs more rewards but it is quite obvious healers are needed but there just is not enough pay off for them for them to Q up sometimes. I am not saying every healer wont Q but theres not a surplus of healers anyways so even a significant amount is quite substantial. I feel like there best way to revitalize a games pvp is to just let it go crazy, a form that shouldn’t be taken too serious unlike arena but at least have the shell of being player vs player. fun for everyone I guess. Something to dive right in without worrying about Qs or mmr. they need to just let pvp not be serious and stick with that. at this point i would hate to say it but your best bet is to cater to the casuals, but that won’t take away from people who want to climb to the top of my supposed pvp mode. idk i have a million different ideas of where pvp should go since i really do like pvp but it is just an eyesore as of current in arena.
MMR system was changed,
the titles can now come out with the achieves instantly instead at end of season or even after the end,
resil was removed
MP5 and HP5 and Hp4 were all removed
Spell power and spell pen for PvP gear was removed
Should add back arena teams with the same system to where you were locked in towards end of season
Should add 5v5s back along with Arena Master.
Should now have Battlemaster + Khan + another bg title since there are multiple other BGs on there added after those two came out
Should have a PvP title AFTER Bloodthirsty. So many got that one over a decade ago, I know a guy who had that many HKs in OG Classic even, so need a title for 500k HKs
Need titles and achievements for those of us who have gotten over 3,000 rating in PvP.
Need new R14 sets added into the game. Need to be able to wear the Hero RBG titles as were supposed to until the idea was taken out.
You can have similar ratings if you have a team and you dont be lazy like some of my friends were and actually log in and play with the team and then your ratings will mostly match that of the team, plus you could make cool team names. I had some super cool arena team names. I also want people to know that if I am logged off and they get wrecked by one of my friends, they will see the team and be like “Oh yea its that team with the pally chick who always stomps us, she is leet.” Or they can be like “Omg that dk who plays with the pally who everyone though had no skill just wrecked us while pally was offline” Like yea, people need to know who I am in arena and who my friends are. That way they can be like good comp, good team, good players who seems mean but are actually nice and humble irl. Cuz we were. Super nice to our guild. And our arenas teams were made mostly of guildiess too. You play with friends.
I play WoW to play with friends. i do ALL my keys with friends 100% of the time. I know all of them. I dont pug anything. Arena teams will force people to start playing with friends again. My pally though, haven’t logged onto her in ages.
But YES there Kleera. I get what you are saying. maybe it is me who is holding too strongly onto the past and is still unwilling to accept the change. If I keep asking for arena teams to come back and most people are asking for them not to be added back in, then it is me who is out of touch, not everyone else. But I still will reach for the old fun past that I used to have in an effort to possibly relive it.
I would ensure that the same number of healers queue do all battlegrounds
I would balance item levels in battlegrounds
I would provide conquest for losing battlegrounds and arenas, even if it’s less conquest than a win
I would create more rewards with quicker results (I.e. not waiting 100 PvP levels for a single reward).
If one side has low populations queueing for PvP, I would create mixed-faction battlegrounds instead of mercenary mode (Horde vs Horde, put some Horde on the Alliance team, etc.)
These are just ideas while I’m making quesadillas!
From what I understand, PvP servers almost always became so faction-unbalanced that people of the minor faction would either transfer their characters off or just stop playing them and you would end up with effectively a single faction server. So world PvP became a non-thing and, aside from things like battlegrounds (which you could do from any server) the PvP realms were effectively PvE on a one-faction basis.
I’m not sure how that would improve world PvP, unless Blizzard came up with some design magic to prevent that happening. They never seemed to manage it in Classic, so can’t see them being able to do better in retail.
Remove healer dependency from all forms of rated PvP. - RSS 3v3/2v2 DPS only allowed.
Pet zerg/AI zerg classes completely gutted in PvP. “What do you mean?” I mean absolutely zero AI viability for all classes. If it’s a pet it’s hitting for literal single digits of damage. There is nothing less fun/involved/skill requiring than barfed out spammed AI zerg.
2v2 healers can only and explicitly only queue against other healer teams. Double dps queue against double dps. Never, under any circumstance, allow it to change.
3v3 healers no longer infinite-survival CD spam machines. They can actually die without 30+ second long CC chains.
All melees have an automatically applying snare such as Crippling Poison etc.
CC homogenized. More modernized, realistic CC groupings. All fears, of all forms are one. All stuns, of all forms are one. All roots, of all forms, are one. Cyclone dispellable, and added to a CC DR with poly.
DoT/debuff mechanics fade immediately upon death (mostly BG relevant).
Borrow ideas from GW2 and FFXIV, and improve upon those ideas. I’m advocating for a full revamp.
Make a new pvp zone that has everything you need - AH, mailbox, target dummies, quartermasters, etc. FF and GW2 have this, and it’s great. Like the other games, this area could have sections for people to duel (a small arena with LOS pillars and whatnot), or a Free-for-all area kinda like the gurabashi arena where people could just go in and be flagged automatically. I think it’d be a nice place for PVPers to socialize, but that’s not the real purpose of this area.
The real reason people would go to this area is because now every class has been revamped to use much less abilities, and this area serves as the place where you can edit talents and practice this now pvp-specific rotation. Gear and levels are also normalized, meaning, that a fresh, level 10 recruit from Exile’s Reach is just as strong as a level 70. Level brackets are gone, and, since everything is now normalized and condensed, there are less variables to balance.
Make honor and PVP rewards cosmetic. People go wild for the PVP tracks in those other MMOs.
I know this is going to be an unpopular suggestion. People love their twinks and love destroying lesser geared people, but y’all need to understand that if you want MORE people to play PVP, then you have to make it more accessible. If someone can just jump in and be competitive, then I firmly believe that the pvp scene will grow.
And no, having gear and levels normalized along with allowing for less buttons does not mean that the game will be easy. Good players are still going to be better than most of us.
