How would you feel if Blizzard opened the other Sanctums in WOTLK+?

So let’s say after BCC, we get WOTLKC (which seems highly likely). How would you personally feel if, at the end of WOTLKC, Blizzard converted the WOTLK servers into “WOTLK+” servers? New bosses harder than even the Lich King in the new Sanctums, as well as rebalanced classes and a new PvP season.

Not a full new game or anything, but just kind of like how Final Fantasy 7 in the United States packaged additional content into the game in the form of Ruby Weapon and Emerald Weapon - content clearly designed for players who had defeated Sephiroth, who had defeated Ultimata Weapon, and were looking for a greater challenge in a game they enjoy.

I think it could make sense and be a nice way for Blizzard to dip their toe into “+” content for Classic servers. It wouldn’t in any way de-legitimize the canon of WoW going forward in the way other "Classic+ concepts for new raids have, but I think the hype for new bosses for one of the most popular versions of WoW could be pretty insane.

Just my thought on an interesting solution Blizzard could take going forward, to try to continue to capitalize on the “Classic+” hype.

Seven hells No! If I want Classic I’ll go play it. It already feels like they dipped their toe into Classic for this expac. That said, going and putting some new content in old zones would be nice.

The day “Classic+” happens is the day I check out permanently.

Uhh… what?

Blizzard is going to have to have some kind of plan for what happens to Classic after WOTLK that isn’t Cataclysm.

And anything that doesn’t involve developing new content for old servers I’m fine with. The Phase-hunter mount really pushed it though.

Thats basically what OSRS is, and it was a success. I say go for it

I’d rather not feel forced to play that museum just to get new content.

Also TBCC apparently got killed just by a mount and some boosts, so I’m pretty sure this would kill off the last of the #nochanges crowd.

The #nochanges crowd is already huffing copium; Jay Allen Brack was right, “you think you do but you don’t” when it comes to no changes. Even Asmongold is tweeting he wants more content for Classic and he was big into no changes initially. Granted, I think his list of changes is over-the-top and also focused on the wrong game (Vanilla is terrible to build off of) but it shows that the mainstream seems to want more stuff in the vein of the older games.

The problem is there are changes that would be extremely good for Classic, and a lot that would be terrible. But that line is different for each player.

Like for me I would love for them to rebalance all of the specs/classes. Make new Classic raids, new battlegrounds. Essentially restarting WoW from the beginning. But some people just want base classic/BC.

Some want dungeon finders, some want tokens (You’re clinically insane if you want this). It just depends who you ask.

Adding in store mounts and paid character boosts are awful additions and ruined the integrity of classic for a lot of people. It’s one of the primary things I hear about as to why people aren’t willing to put the time in anymore. On top of the obvious recent problems that have come out.

Say it with me now: “They will never do Plus servers, because no one can agree on what the Plus parts should be”.

Repeat that mantra until it sinks in, thanks.

Yeah, it’s called “stop adding stuff and opening more servers”

IF they get to WOTLK, they likely won’t go past that, and even more likely, they will STOP Classic altogether, because they said before Vanilla Classic launched that it was a giant museum and a “let’s see if we can do it” project.

Blizzard is “the decider”. Fan-fiction is fan-fiction until Blizzard does it and then it isn’t fan-fiction but part of the actual game.

Reminds me of the “Custom Hearthstone” arguments in the Hearthstone community. People say a mechanic is impossible or dumb until Blizzard does it and then its suddenly 10k IQ.

If Blizzard decides to extend WOTLK with additional content, in the same way that FF7 got additional content when it came from Japan to the United States (Ruby and Emerald Weapon), or like any of the Kingdom Hearts games getting additional bosses in their Remasters, then while some purists would grumble, most would accept it as part of the game.

“Times change”. $$$ talks.

Time will tell I suppose.

They won’t. That would skew the story in a different direction than the one we already have in Retail and they will NOT do that.

Would it though? Ruby and Emerald Weapon didn’t skew the story of Final Fantasy 7, and additional dragon sanctum raids wouldn’t skew the story either because the Black Dragonflight invading Wyrmrest is already canon.

Yes, it would.

Also, it would cause people to complain even more than they do now, because what YOU think should be “additional content” I might not agree should be. Do you honestly think the devs could even come close to coming up with something even on a basic level that would please enough people that they would continue playing or be interested in trying it out?

They added a store mount and people went berserk.

I’m not sure why you’re getting so whipped into a frenzy.

This is not a new concept dude.

Square Enix literally adds new content to their games when they remaster them all the time. Almost every Final Fantasy has had bonus bosses added to them with re-releases. Even the original Final Fantasy has had additional content added to it… in fact, it has literally been remastered so many times they added a second bonus remaster dungeon to it for players who had already mastered the previous bonus remaster dungeon.

The idea of WoW adding “Post End-Game Uber Bosses” is not some alien idea that is out there, it’s actually completely normal and reasonable to expect to see in these types of games. Monster Hunter is a serious infamous for these type of encounters added to the games when they’re remastered - often the most epic and awe-inspiring encounters only show up when the game is remastered.

Adding more dragons to WOTLK is pretty dang tame in comparison. We’ve not talking about making a whole new expansion or raid tier. Just some new dragons to kill for players who have mastered everything the Classic trilogy has to offer.

It would be cool if they took some notes from peeservers for inspiration or did seasonal servers with modified gameplay, but this is GD so thoughts are not allowed, only contempt.

No, after Wrath Classic, I want CataClassic and MoP classic all the way to Shadowlands Classic. #NoChanges

I’m not getting whipped up into anything.

You’re just showing how rabid you are for a concept that has ZERO chance of happening.

Blizzard has come out and said they have no interest in doing this. At all.

Yet, people like yourself keep coming out of the wood works, quoting OSRS and all other sorts of nonsense about it.

They also had no interest in Classic WoW in the first place, yet here we are.
