They aren’t retooling existing specs into support specs, because they tried something like that in Legion and not every result was well-received. People are still mourning the loss of old Survival and Demonology, now imagine if they turned specs like Arcane, Disc, and Sub into buffers or debuffers. Aug was a mistake.
They’ve already addressed this. They are NOT changing any current spec into a “support” spec like Augmentation. If they want to expand on the concept of “support” specs, then they’ll add completely new specs instead.
If Blizzard insists on a broken role like Augment being mandatory, it makes sense to add a 4th spec to each pure DPS class that functions similarly.
I don’t want my spec ruined just because augmentation can’t be balanced.
I’d rather they remove augmentation no need to ruin other specs.
Umm, not a good practice.
It’s like every time when people come here wanting to change M+ instead of asking for a second dungeon mode.
Add > complete redesigns
Please GOD no. Pick someone else, anyone else. Windfury Totem is bad enough.
I could see it working for some classes, but it has to be both thematically appropriate and it should probably come in the form of additional specs, not replacement ones.
For instance, I could see Rogue getting a “Minstrel” spec (assuming they don’t now want to do a full-on Bard class) before I could see them pulling out one of the existing specs. Paladin could get something heavily focused on auras and blessings, and Mage, priest, and Shaman could all also get augmentation specs as well.
Other classes, I think, it would be harder to do. Warrior getting some kind of Battleleader spec that’s all shouts and banners, maybe, but Hunter, Demon Hunter, and Death Knight are a bit harder to picture in terms of Augmentation Theme. Shame, because Demon Hunter is still only 2/3s of a class.
ok, but what if in exchange they altered Elemental to be akin to Ret paladin? That is, melee focus but 80% of their kit still useable at mid to long range, like some kind of elemental battle mage.
Yes but the other 4 aren’t brought to a key solely to pump up other’s numbers. Does the extra damage from haste go into the toon who pushes the button, nope. Does the Priest get the “credit” for whoever they give PI to? Nope.
Well THANKFULLY that won’t be happening, it’d ruin what enhancement has been for 15 or so years.
You cant just simply change an existing spec. So many people have grown accustomed to what they are today. It’d be a lot more likely for a new support spec or class to happen over revising a current one. The devs clarified this in a relatively recent interview.
Combat rogue,
Survival hunter
Seems they can in fact do that.
It’s not creative. It’s just poor design by blizzard who only added the new support spec and made it so OP everyone would be forced to bring it to their groups.
Blizzard only created augment so people would play their new hero class.
When DF is over, augment will be nerfed to the ground and we will never hear about them again.
Yes it has oh so many problems that it needs to just be removed from the game.
Something will have to be done, augmentation is here and will always be taken if it is remotely close to what it does now. You’d be a fool to not take them to raids or mythic plus ,it feels too easy not to. If you gut the spec ,no one will play it.Support roles are here to stay or Blizz can remove them after dragonflight. But more will have to come or someone will always lose a DPS spot to an Aug…
I’m with the other guy about dead or less played specs being a support role,it’s cool. Or just make each class a 4 th spec, but his/her post was interesting…
A stupid idea. Support classes is one the most dumbest things the devs came up with. #RemoveAugmentation
Yeah they can, and people hated how they changed those specs.
There is no point in changing existing specs to a new type of role… just make new ones.
They could avoid introducing more specs to balance by changing existing ones.
The current specs will never be balanced.
Introducing others will wreck any balance that exists, the same disruption as changing current ones to a new role.
That’s an argument for not adding more
