How Would Alliance Players Finish The Story?

Aethas let the Horde use Dalaran as a staging ground to steal the divine bell.
He is what caused the purge event.

This is solely his fault.

Not sure if that’s how the programming works. But I’m not sure there’s a comparable example where you can have an aggressive pet, you attack a neutral creature with a damaging attack, and it won’t attack back. But if there was, I think it would still show up on the target list for the pet. Even if the neutral turned hostile thing won’t attack.

If the idea is that ‘being hit by a spell that marks you from neutral to hostile equates to fighting back’, just seems like a reach.

No, my point was that fighting back, as in running up and starting to punch Jaina because they were hit by the Blizzard, is exactly that, fighting back.

Ah, gotcha. I misread what Petethedk said.

I dunno, it feels more like Blizzard refusing to alienate Alliance players by having their faction do anything that seems like it might be morally questionable. Would we be having all these discussions if Genn convinced Anduin it was necessary to move against Sylvanas and UC was the first battle in the prepatch making Teldrassil more retaliatory?

Look, frankly, I would love the Alliance to become a threat to the Horde, I would have preferred if we had a loss like Teldrassil over UC. A loss where the we would have been told basically yeah, you’ve been hit hard but this is the start of you coming back stronger to make up for that loss. Give us losses like the Alliance where we get to feel like we have been wronged and had something taken from us, not just a loss where we’re just left feeling like we had it coming and besides we didn’t really lose anything.

I am disappointed by the total lack of empathy shown towards other players in so many of these posts.

Here’s the deal: you’re not going to get everything you want. Neither side will score a clear victory. No faction will be dismantled. No group of players will have their faces rubbed in the dirt for something they had no control over.

If those are things you need to feel happy with the story, then you will be disappointed. There’s no point in arguing about why you think your particular grievances are more important than everyone else’s. You still won’t get what you want.

If your happiness with a video game story requires other people to feel bad, then you don’t deserve to get what you want.

And yet the horde rubbed our face into the dirt.

Alliance players will get their face rubbed into dirt when we aren’t allowed to strike back because “it’s a playabable faction, think about the horde!” while at the same time we will have horde players mocking us (some, not all) for destroying our cities for free and not face any consequence simply because they have unlimited plot armor.

We had no control over it either, so why we deserve to feel bad and angry because our “hapiness” comes “at the expense of horde players”
What about alliance players? we are supposed to just accept it?
No, i think that i would rather uninstall.

and for the record i don’t hate horde players for what blizzard has done to them, but that doesn’t mean that i would accept the horde as a story faction doing what they want.

maybe? i personally think that they are so disconnected from their players that they may as well thinking they are doing a good job because “they evoke emotion”
and “iF You ArE AnGry ThaT meAnS YoU CarE”.
basically they are useless writters.

Let me ask you … what exactly do you lose by not getting to destroy the Horde in some massive way? Have you lost any major characters? No. Have you lost your absurd power-fantasy? No. Have you lost your flawless moral superiority? No. How many of your racial fantasies have been trampled upon in this story? The NEs for certain, but any others? Any other Alliance race poised to lose a damned thing in this expansion if you don’t get some Teldrassil style lashback? Hell, I betcha a bunch of people still want ELUNE to do it, so the Alliance can keep their hands clean.

But let me tell you what, I am certainly jealous that the Alliance playerbase can still see some avenue towards satisfaction in this story (no matter how remote and how cynical their chances are). The Horde playerbase has settled into a nice comfortable seat of apathy. There is no light at the end of this tunnel. No reward to be had. We can just sit back and hope that Blizzard doesn’t kill too many of our decimated roster of representatives (that the NEVER replace); and enjoy waiting to see how irrelevant we get to be in the next expansion (OOH maybe if its a Shadowland expansion we’ll get to spend the whole time killing the GHOSTS of Horde races this time!)

We dont separate. NE lost something. Alliance lost something.
At least that how I view it.

As for what we lost. Well 3 zones, massive casualties and horde aggression and so on.
It requires a response and retribution. The Horde as an entity needs to pay dearly for what they did. I can’t understand your logic that somehow the Horde attacks us, does unspeakable things and we are supposed to like it and cheer them on?

our dignity as a faction. and self respect
the alliance is supposed to be a faction based on retribution, on protect and justice.

Our losses comes as big story moments like gilneas, theramore and teldrassil, we feel impotent for not being able to protect them, we feel rage of those who wronged us, and when we have the chance to strike back, strike hard at those responsible for it, there is some dumb moral holding us back and letting them live. only to be hitted AGAIN
because apparently we didn’t learned our lesson the first time.
ENOUGH.

So who can respect a faction that doesn’t bring justice for the fallen?
how i am supposed to play while we get constantly mocked by horde players for destroing our cities like, of course they can do it and not face consequences.
i will not accept being mocked and humilliated so many times, enough is enough. That is why i am angry.

In a game where “the world is the main character” as the devs have said, then destroying zones hits harder than killing certain characters. One of the reasons I’ma be playing classic is not only cause Thrall will be Warchief, but because all the zones wont be smashed to bits with random tornados and fires. STV, the Barrens, Ashenvale, Darkshore, Westfall, Thousand Needles not flooded, Hillsbrad without green ooze everywhere, all that.

Must be nice to be allowed such Faction Rep. Must be nice to play a faction thats allowed to have the potential of Faction Pride, where as WE get to be a plot-device at the best of times. Villain Batted in MoP; the Orc lore decimated and mutilated in WoD (Blizz just couldn’t help themselves but have ANOTHER round of evil orcs to kill); outright ignored in Legion (we were a footnote in YOUR story Alliance, I don’t care how much you blame US for Blizz barely painting your reps with neutrality); and then Villain Batted again in BfA. When the hell is it our time to get even a single moment of satisfaction and Faction Pride?

Man … I miss the days that Blizz didn’t constantly tell me I chose the wrong faction, and just ignoring us instead…

Maybe Blizz thinks the Horde committing genocide would be faction pride… and with the million trolly comments from Sylvanas fans Idk if I can blame them…

What are alliance players allowed to have? This is a retread of mop.

We’re not getting Teldrassil back. We’re not getting Darkshore updated from a warfront. Any changes from the cataclysm won’t be undone.

We may not even kill the person responsible, because Blizzard has plans for her, while there’s a fan base that is threatening to quit if she dies.

there is no use in having major characters if they aren’t going to use them or turn them into anduins “HeAl ThE HorDe”

There is no use in having a gigantic power fantasy if we can’t use them at their full power or we would have won by now.

i don’t mind losing the “gigantic” moral superiority if that means that i can start feeling ashamed for the things the alliance does so calling for peace would be a far better solution.

i am sorry i may be a little slow but what do you mean with “faction rep”.

Wait, you are telling me that the horde is the plot device?

i am just going to tell you:Cata-mop-wod
while you guys got legion but we are already back with the horde and their million of dollars cgi cinematics.
we got 3 expansion in a row of horde fiesta. not so fun when it happens to you, hu?

blizzard idea of faction pride is destroying alliance cities with heavy metal on the background.
i think that you already got those.

What will you guys accept is a better question. Forced the horde to destroy UC, raided horde expansion capitol, killed rasthakan, destroyed the horde navy, but none of that seems to be good nor even scratch the surface of what ya’ll want.

Ever since this thing has started the alliance has been pretty handley winning.

Why im a big sayer of they over did it.

Humiliation of the Horde.

Saurfang’s face in the dirt with an alliance blade at his neck.
He can say proudly that the Horde never surrenders or cry like a coward.

Regardless he should be humiliated in a grand cinematic displaying Alliance justice.

Personally? Killing Sylvanas. No Horde aid. Not having to work with the Horde ever again. If the writers want a team up, then they need to create a third faction (for lore not gameplay).

Yes this too.
Kick the Horde out of Dalaran, Cenarion circle and all other alliance themed neutral organizations.

They can go make their own dumb organization.
