How to remove old authenticator from account

tried to login not using battle net app, it prompted for the code, so i typed it in manually from the battle.net phone app but it wasnt approved nor were there any login requests.

i think its still linked to the really old key chain fob that you press the button and it shows the code, but the battery on that thing died years ago. how do i get rid of this thing from my account? i looked in account security but its not there

Similar problem and advice! :3

If you have SMS protect you can remove it yourself otherwise it is the somewhat lengthier road.

i have access to my account fine, and am able to remove the phone battle.net authenticator, but when using the games exe file to launch, it prompts me for the old key chain fob authenticator and not the phone battle.net app, so just want the old one gone but guess i have to contact support?

If you don’t have SMS for self-help to work, yes.

You’ll need to submit a ticket.

i can log in jsut fine and when i want to remove my authenticator it wants to remove the current active one, not the very old core hound one

why is the core hound one even still attached to my account ??

I’m confused by

all authenticators include the corehound for using one. Adding SMS adds the 4 extra bags, so just to clarify as you can only have one authenticator active per account (Excluding the fact you can clone a serial number and restore code to multiple smart devices)

If it is not the current active fob, it should not be attached.

I’m not sure what you mean by Core Hound one, Skurgemurder. Having an Authenticator on your account, be it a physical fob or the mobile app, grants the Core Hound pet.

As Kozzae mentioned having the Authenticator and SMS Protect (phone notifications) gives you the extra bag slots.

You appear to have both on your account. In order to remove the Authenticator manually you usually need to provide the code from the Authenticator. If that isn’t working for you, you might be able to use the SMS Protect option to remove it.

If that doesn’t work though, please use the link from the thread Forumcat linked… I’ll link it here for convenience.

the core hound one is like a little fob one that can attach to your keychain. you press a button on it and it display a number and u use that to login. but the battery on it died years ago and when not using the bnet app to launch wow it asks for the core hound fob code when logging in and the mobile app code does not work

The fob isn’t specific to the Core Hound, both versions of the Authenticator grant the pet.

Are you attempting to load World of Warcraft through the exe instead of the Desktop App? I’m not sure why it would be asking for the old app, but it might have to do with the fact that it isn’t a supported means of booting up the game.

yes am trying to boot game with exe and want the old fob removed and want to use the mobile app code instead as the old fob is dead

I was just as confused as everyone else but I think Core Hound is the model of the physical authenticator OP is referring to, maybe?

The old fob is removed. Assuming you are referring to the account you are currently posting on, you have a Mobile Authenticator on it.

If going through wow.exe is asking for a different Authenticator that would likely be unintended, but since that is not a supported method of booting up the game it is not likely going to be fixed.

Go through the Battlenet Desktop App.

yea thats the fob

ty for removing it

edit: still asking for old fob code. but w/e just delete this post and forget about it

I didn’t remove it, Skurgemurder, because there isn’t a Physical Authenticator Fob on this account to remove.

You said if you go through the Battle.net Desktop App it asked for the Mobile one and you can log in, right? It would be best if you do that, as that is the supported log in method for World of Warcraft.

yeah the bnet app method works fine. i had just see some ppl use the exe way just fine so was hoping to get that too.
