Instead of reducing button bloat by pruning abilities… we should be looking at ways to synergize abilities that make sense.
Here are a few of my suggestions based on the classes I have some experience playing.
Arms Warrior
-Combine Whirlwind and Thunderclap
Enhancement Shaman
-Combine Flame Shock and Lava Lash
Havoc Demon Hunter
-Combine Sigil of Flame and Immolation Aura
OR
-Combine The Hunt and Essence Break (Upon Impact)
Paladin
-Combine Hammer of Wrath and Judgment
Retribution Paladin
-Buff Templar Strikes to have the second combo attack generate 2 Holy Power and critically strike
Unholy Death Knight
-Combine Unholy Frenzy’s Haste benefit with Dark Transformation
-Combine the 4 Festering Rune Stack of Unholy Frenzy with Apocalypse, likely after already popping up to 4 wounds the ability will apply another 4
Most of the time a general damage rotation should consist of 5 main attacks imo. Of course there can be outliers where maybe a spec or 2 is 4 main buttons while some others are 6.
On Disc Priest, mind blast is really only ever used with a proc or as a stronger smite. Just empowering smite every few seconds will remove one button.
I like some of these ideas, but I don’t know how this one alleviates button bloat. If anything this would encourage button bloat because right now crusading strikes which is completely passive is a roughly equally tuned option over templar. Buff templar and you cant choose the passive option anymore without a dps loss.
Why not both? I’ve had my fun with some abilities and I don’t want them anymore. Mindgames, for example. Soul rot. Adaptive swarm and cenarion ward. Also for the purposes of your thread you could combine volley with death chakram, but try to make it worse in ST somehow because volley feels weird to use on ST.
I really don’t get where this whole “button bloat” stuff came from.
Have you tried, like, not picking/using abilities if you don’t like to use them?
Making macros?
Ah, it’s another one of those topics where he probably elaborates and makes some decent points but the average parrots just start being annoying with the immediate face-value statement.
Honestly can’t think of anything I’d be happy about being removed from frost mage. Everything is important to establishing and riding the flow of the spec.
It’s easy to blame asmon but he’s really not the cause of this, just a symptom.
As the skill ceiling is raised the gap between the top and bottom players gets larger. For a lot of causal / mid-tier players moving from the top of the dps charts to mid / bottom as they struggle to keep up is not fun.
Yes, it is sorta a good gud issue… but its also a lot of people who want the game more like it used to be because they had more fun performing well with easier rotations. The core of the argument that blizz devs intent should be making the game as fun as they can for the most amount of people.
No one can actually ID this legendary streamer that is getting people to post about button bloat. If it was Asmongold, it would be easy to find a clip.
You can find posts about it shortly after the expansion came out. People just don’t want to acknowledge it. Partially due to flexing about liking complexity while they do normals I guess.
