Had a low level Orc ask for 50 gold in Orgrimmar the other day. Said he recently switched servers and was broke. I had the gold and the requested amount was so small. I hope he bought something nice with the gold. Lol 
Seemed legit to me. Switching servers is fun til you realize you are broke and starting from scratch. I’ve definitely been there! 
Did not realize they added “compare achievements” under Inspect, when did this happen?
Given what many have already said, probably just say hello in regular chat. Any one that says hello back probably is new and does not yet hate everything.

Neither of these are indicators.
There’s a player in Lightbringer that occasionally logs in and tries to have civilized conversations on trade chat. Pretty sure his/her character name is happyfish or something of the sort.

Comb through new players forum until you find someone on your realm and mail them the gold.
I could use some gold doesn’t have to be much just enough to buy some game time say enough for a token or two will suffice you can send it as a gift to my battle tag

i always have around 200k. I never got more. I used to buy mounts, BS recipes, rare xmog from the AH. I don’t play to make gold (IRL already exist to grind money).
Please, give me 50 millions gold!
I like to set up a Blingtron in a leveling area because the gold from its vendables can seem huge to a new player. I remember many years ago learning I could buy a bag at Darkmoon Faire for prize tokens and resell it for a whole gold. It was the most in-game currency I had aver seen.
I used to check the guild roster each week, (after I’d leveled,) and send 200 gold and 4 netherweave bags to any new recruits under level 30. For a while word spread and heaps of newbs were joining temporarily just to get the goodies. I didn’t care, it was nothing to me and I liked helping anyone, true guildie or not.
However these days the only lowbies in guilds are players Allied race alts, and the troll and elf and human new player zones are empty. Holler in chat in those locations and see nothing but silence in these now deserted areas.
It’s pretty sad. I love this game, and can’t see it staying healthy without a continual influx of new players.
Compare achievements. They wont have alot and they show the dates earned.

This game should have the new and returning system like FF does. It just puts a little sprout or flower next to your name to let others know. People are always more patient she understanding because it’s clear it’s a new player or someone who’s been gone a while.
Different community though. People would probably just sh*t on them here.

There’s probably not a way to instantly tell. It comes out in conversation. Just "basic "stuff that they might not know.
You can probably trust your gut feelings, when interacting with others, on this.
Compare Achievements and see if they have the level 120 achievement since, IIRC, Achievements shown are account wide… I think? Maybe?
Honestly, idk.

Check to see how friendly or outgoing they are. If they exhibit a toxic and salty demeanor, they are a seasoned veteran
