How to identify new players?

I’m planning to give away several million gold to new players. However, I don’t want to hand it over to some alt of a player that has 50 million already…
I suppose I could inspect them for heirloom gear, but it could still be an alt running without it.

The average player new or old has barely a fraction of that anyway.

Green crucible of flame, no raider io, go into a heroic and pretend to be afk and watch the 370 ilvls rip apart the 235 ilvls for foolishly breaking their 5674 dps

They can’t whip out their collectors edition diablo mini pet.

I just started.

What server are you on?

Inability to withhold awe at first time seeing Stormwind. Asking absolutely noobish questions like “what level to get a horse?” Things like that. I haven’t asked that since before LK ended.

Not wearing mogged gear.

I just found one way, but it’s a bit slow. Look them up in armory… If they have piles of high level mounts, (or riding the motorcycle sidecar), they’re not new.
I wish the game just had a new player marker, like FFXIV’s sprout icon.

If they are polite, and not yet jaded by this game, then they are new players.

It’s not a new player marker. It’s a new character marker. I have like 4 alts, even in FFXIV. They all start with it.

Positive attitude, not raging or hating on everything.

The other problem is just trying to find a new player, AND one that’s on my realm so I can send gold… I wish I could turn off CRZ.

Ahhh…I try to keep the positive vibes flowing but I am not “new” to the game by any means.

Well, for the purposes of this discussion, that would still mean you deserve some gold for not being bitter and cranky all the time!

You could instead convert all the gold to wowtokens/Blizzard Balance. Gift the new players some game time or mounts instead. That way you don’t have to worry about realms

Go to newbie starting zones and look for people using Says in response to npc quest givers with scripted speech.

That could just be someone trying out the game for a bit. I’ve deleted many characters before they reached 10. I’m looking for ones in the 20-30 range, so I know they’ve stuck with it for a while.

Won’t something like your mount/pet collection show up accountwide, regardless if you have your achievements “hidden”?

(so a lack of these has a greater chance of it being a new account?)

Doesn’t really help you right now, but maybe interesting info:

RP realms don’t CRZ in old content zones.

People can still be invited to the phase/shard/whatever from off-realm, but only manually. It doesn’t kick in to automatically fill them.
