How to get to Vash'jir?

I’d prefer to avoid Chromie as I find things get confusing with using her, (as in what phase I’m in and then can’t interact properly with others).

It’s not actually going to the flight point there that’s the problem. That is the easy part. But going into Vash is the hard part. You need to get the questline to give you water breathing and faster travel there. A potion will allow you to breathe but you move like molasses in winter. (I just tried this evening.)

One of the things I really disliked about that place when it first came up. Not hard to do, just annoying.

Now of course, can’t pickup that initial questline.

Ah right, my mistake.

Seashores mounts aren’t too expensive I don’t think. They’ll at least help with movement.

So I took two level 50’s, one Alliance, one Horde, to SW/Org. Neither has been to Vashj’ir. The portal to Vashj’ir was locked for both.

Next I went to look at the assignment board. One is showing Tanaan Jungle/Dread Wastes/Deepholm as my 3 choices. The other character sees Broken Shore/Tanaan Jungle/Vashj’ir as my 3 choices.

I’m not understanding why they decided to give 3 choices and only 3. There should have been a right and left arrow to cycle through all options. Opening and closing the panel did nothing to change the options. Logging out and logging back in changed nothing.

That’s what I was trying to do when I was working on that mining project. At least I was on druids, but I really wanted to get the quest to unlock the zone.

so I just did what the poster above said to do , I have never been to Vash on this character and I flew there from Dun on my own fly mount lvl 35, I made it easily without fatiguing, once I arrived I was given under water breathing automatically without doing a single quest, on my screen I could see many flight paths and yellow !'s, the ! on the kelp forest map that is called , aint to proud to beg begins the quest chain, it just skips the few quests when we started back in the day from SW, no Chromie , no nothing , very simple.

You can get to Vashj by flying west from Gnomergan in Dun Morogh

Had to use the hero board on an alt to get and do the initial water breathing quests. The Storm wind portal doesn’t become active until you finish that starter quest line.

You can fly there and you might be able to start the quest line just by showing up, but if you don’t have the toy that reveals the map it’s kind of hard to find that starter zone. And you’ll need water breathing and a water mount most likely.

It also includes TBC zones like the Blood elf and Draenei starting zones (Eversong Woods, Ghostlands, Azuremyst and Bloodmyst Isle).

Correct. However one can do just over a half of the quest chains in Hyjal without flying (the quest chain for Aviana needs flying). Vashj’ir doesn’t need flying at all since it is all underwater.

except he still needs the quest to unlock the chain of quests.

This guy is trolling hard. I just flew there from the coast of Dun Morogh. I did not get underwater breathing or fast swimming. The only quest is one in the lower left side of the map. The only npc on the ship is the innkeeper. The only flight point is the one on the island. If you click the seahorse flight master, you are notified that there are no connected destinations.

you have to do the starting quest to get their. i assume you can take chromie time for cata? and then go to the heros board and get the starting quest there and do the quest chain that takes you there.

its just a boat ride and then all that stuff. worst part probably is the boat ride. sometimes it takes forever to come

Low levels can’t do quests that require killing mobs that are ?? level to them. Low levels see no starting quests if they have not taken the breadcrumb to open the Cata zones.

well duh! This is kind of a silly thing to bring up.

Since you can’t do Cata only zones until level 30 (and even then you only got Hyjal and Vashj’ir select). And by that point you should have flying. However what I said is not invalided by what you said. You simply said they can’t level there because they are designed for flight. Which is true except for Vashj’ir, most of Hyjal and most of Twilight Highlands.

Honestly what you said feels like moving the goalposts.

up yours i am trolling , this is exactly what i did not even 30 minutes ago , total honest, something wrong with your character

Can you just use the ring of portals with the shamans Western Earthshrine for Horde or Eastern for Ally to all the Cata zones?

The quest you need is called ‘Call of duty’ on both sides. For horde you pick it up from Commander Thorak in a hut by the docks. Alliance go check wowhead.

If you are an Alliance character, go to Stormwind, go to the docks, speak to the NPC named Recruiter Burns. He stands just in front of the northern most dock where the boat to Northrend departs from. The quest he gives starts the quest line that you must complete to put you in Vashjir. He will be phased out if you accepted the intro quests for Legion or BFA but didn’t complete them yet.

It helps, a lot, if you turn Tracking on for “Trivial Quests”. That will allow you to see the “!” quest marker for low level quests above the quest NPC’s.

I’m less certain of the NPC for Horde, but I believe the NPC is Farseer Krogar and he is in the Valley of Wisdom area of Ogrimaar. Accept his quest and eventually you will be in Vashjir. Or it might be Commander Thorak who is in Durotar East of Ogrimaar by the docks. One or the other gives you the quest that sends you to Vashjir.

I did say its possible i used flight point maps and flew there. It has been a long while since i did much of anything on that account.

If he played during Cata and unlocked all that when questing in Vash, he’d have it now.

Could be legit.

He said he has never been to vashj’ir on that level 35 character before.
