There should be no store cosmetics in a game with a subscription fee. I would like the bruto because it’s a cool-looking mount, but I’m not honoring their scummy cash grabs. The next store mount will be even more expensive, and then the next, etc. It’ll never end unless players stop buying them.

Financial priorities are one of the biggest part of adulting.
If the budget allows for hobbies, thats fantastic. Hell, just work some OT if it covers the cost of ones hobbies.
But dont be so short on cash that one cant deal with a flat tire over a video game.

But this is a for profit corporation who has a parent company and investors to answer to.
No profits can = finding more ways to cut costs or even shut it all down.
Id prefer paying 90 bucks and maybe keeping the light bills paid for a while longer.

That was not the point of the post… and apparently you are not able to figure out this was for people who want the mount but might struggle to get it or a strategy to get it.
His suggestion is if you want the mount save up for (like normal people) maybe forgo a few things like extra sodas or fast food and in no time, you’ll have the funds to buy it.
That is not any strategy that “poor people use” - it is a strategy that normal/common sense people use to save up for something they’d like so they can pay for it outright w/o financing it.

seriously though. While Ive always been able to buy what I want, way back when it was often because I could work all the OT I wanted…and not exaggerating…I put in 70 hour weeks frequently enough to support my hobbies back then. lol.
These days I have enough saved…enough income and investments that I dont have to kill myself anymore to spend…but I certainly remember those days 30 years ago of having to think about what i was spending closely enough to have learned to budget my finances.
If someone is really that poor, Id suggest being very careful about spending money on games with sub and expansion costs.
Games like skyrim might be better alternatives if the budget is that tight.

Did you miss the 15$ x 12m part? That is 180$ per year. That is more than Windows that drives the game and you buy once over like 5 years. Then add an expansion pack at 50 - 100$.
I am sure the lights will stay on and we will get the same bugged product.
The only thing that charging for a bruto will do is make non-whales re-evaluate the cost of the game.
Subs are where the money is. That is why they report active users to corporate. Lose the subs, then they go in to cost cutting mode. Charging for a bruto is a patch that will backfire.
And then the Brutosaur Races will begin, and the Decorate Your Brutosaur contest, and we can start collecting Brutosaur Coins, but you need a Brutosaur to do any of this… I’m running out of time…

OP: If people are balking at the $90 price tag of the new mount, I get you, but here is a budgeting strategy that will allow you to buy the mount eventually with a smaller blow to your weekly spending amount/paycheck

I’ve spent thousands of dollars on this game having had this account since Burning Crusade. This is mostly subscription fees with some purchases here and there when items are on sale.
If I were to have all of that taken from my bank account right now it would hurt but spread out over decades I can’t say I miss the money much.

That is not what the original post was about.
There are other threads complaining about the macro transaction aspect. (Which is a take I agree with, to be clear. I can AFFORD this mount but there are so many other things more worthy of $90 to me and I won’t be getting it or supporting its inclusion)
I just keep seeing repeats of ready player one and sorrentos putting ads on the screen and everything being charged. IoI in WoW. Macrotransactions.
