Hi, as title says how do I get better at this battleground. So far I haven’t won any games here as alliance. Zero.
I’ve tried going for objectives in the horde zone only to get wiped. I’ve tried zug zug mid, only to get wiped. I’ve tried zug zug mid while Horde is doing ogre, to only get wiped. I’ve tried hanging back and protecting my back line only to get pushed further back until we lose. It seems that my teams only goes mid ( I feel that’s wrong) but so does the Horde and their able to win.
I’m having a really hard time understanding what I need to be doing in order to secure a win. Right now it feels impossible and I’d like tips other things to help me. I would like to win this battleground at least once while playing Warcraft, but for now it just feels like I’m always an attacker in Wintergrasp and there’s nothing I can do about it.
Please give lots of tips and ways to improve (ally side only.) If there are call outs I can be making before the game starts to help lead my team as well, or anything to give me an advantage or avenue for success.
Not sure the average person is capable of swinging a huge BG like that into a win.
I wouldn’t blame yourself.
Bad luck?
Have you tried as a large group right when the gates open up to rush horde mage then defend your own? That’s how I usually win it when I merc mode as alliance. I don’t actually know the proper strategy for it though so I probably shouldn’t even be posting.
Actually, to be more serious I think Ashran is the one epic BG where a single person can make a difference. A leader who knows what they’re doing calling shots can win games, provided the rest of the team is competent enough to hold their own in team fights.
People need to be told what to do. So, step up, call it out and expect the herp derp shut up, we ain’t listening to you to ensue. Bring some friends, a single party can make a difference in an epic bg. It’s also knowing when to push and when to fall back.
Yeah step up! Call out to your team that the horde is going to get a 15% stat buff immediately so your team also needs to go dark woods to fight a team with 15% bonus stats to try and get the 15% bonus stats for themselves.
Ashran odds are well in favor of the horde, just the way it was created.
If you aren’t organized, and the other team also is not, it’s random luck, il and class advantages.
Far as you, focus healers. Get addon call Healers Have to Die. If they healing themselves, they are pressured into not healing others. CC, interupt, silence when possible.
Thank you for all the replies!! I’ve tried these starts and come to the conclusion that Ashran is 100% unwinnable for the alliance. I’m just going to afk/ leave everytime this one pops up. Sadly this is one a one-sided battleground and it’s just not fun.
If it were like the other epics where there’s a chance at winning, even WG attacker, I’d play, but because it’s impossible I won’t waste my time anymore.
Thanks for the input and everything else, but this isn’t a battleground meant for the alliance to win. I hope one day Blizzard will introduce a battleground that’s unwinnable for the Horde as well.
I doubt most PVP players even know how to activate the solar sphere.
If players keep treating epic BGs as PVE races or Deathmatches (which is more akin to a brawl with no real strategy) and completely give up objectives and map control then they really shouldn’t be surprised when they lose.
In my exprience as Alliance, I win on Ashran about 50% of the time. It’s actually my favorite Epic, because the win/loss ratio is pretty balanced, lots of opportunity for HK, and it doesn’t take very long.
It’s not impossible. If your team sticks together (probably the most important thing) and doesn’t start falling apart after the first team fight is over. The Solar Sphere goes a little way towards helping offset the ridiculous imbalance Horde has on this map, and if you have a strong team of healers and DPS (death knights are great here for grips) that doesn’t overextend and die, it’s doable.
Unfortunately, the majority of matches are decided on the first team fight because as soon as you wipe, people will afk out or feed them kills or just do nothing. You really do need the majority of your team in one death ball.
40% on that character, but that is very respectable.
Ahhh, I forgot I can check the percentages on the profile page! Thanks for that reminder. That will be useful. I’ll have to check on my alts as well, because I do epic BGs on all the alts I play
Haha I still see people asking what mage or ogre is week to week. On the flip side, if they’re new players, thats a plus. Simply informing them when I see it is a small investment to hopefully have them come back.
Don’t take it too hard: 1 person out of 30 won’t hose the entire team.
Alliance actually used to lolcurbstomp the Horde in that map when it first came out; Horde does not have a monopoly…so don’t give them one?
Know that you need to do a little bit of reading so that you can be more valuable/understand what it takes to win.
Case in point, a geared aff lock with the AA would absolutely wreck them.
So, where/how to get the AA? What to do with it? What NOT to do while holding it?
Pro tip; many Alliance subs have long since rolled over since BFA. This means that the new players collectively do not know/remember how to win that BG. It is actually easier for Alliance to win that one than it is Horde–if the raid knows what to do (they generally don’t). Worse, they don’t bother to read up on how to win it. They just show up and play it like passive schmucks…and the scores prove it. Don’t be that guy.
