This btw is why people don’t want to transfer off mega servers. There should be enough people on a server to run dungeons, if not I agree Blizzard needs to fix it. I’d prefer server merges but cross-server LFG makes sense too.
I agree, but I don’t think that was the point of OP’s post.
Again. I don’t think any of this has to do with OP’s post. Nor do I think they’re even anti-RDF; they even said they aren’t.
You have issues with anti-RDFers that I somewhat agree with, but OP isn’t one of them and you shouldn’t take your frustrations out on a thread giving friendly advice.
I had someone in a group the other day I thought was a bot but then he said “map, bro” which I don’t think bots do.
This one line destroys your whole post. Why? There are times when i’m in a dungeon where I have my music cranked, and I want to be anti-social and just kill stuff in the dungeon.
You can be as anti-social as you want, no one will stop you. But it might be the reason you’re kicked out.
No and I never said that is what the OP was suggesting or arguing against. I think the OP wrote a thoughtful well laid out way to increase your odds of getting into groups. That being said, it is my opinion this guide would work great on large servers but not so much on small ones.
Sigh, AGAIN, I not once said OP was for or against. Umm, did you read all my statments or just one or two. I think the OP did a good job. Are you ok? Even the op said thank you to me in another post where he linked this guide. I am by far from being frustrated, especially over a video game.
Hey man thats funny because Hey!
Looks like lots of people are struggling to get into dungeon groups, so as a long time group leader I thought I’d put together a quick tutorial for people who can’t get into a group.
Reasons you’re getting rejected
You’re DPS and just clicked ‘Request to Join group’ without a whisper
So did 10 other people. Chances are they wont see your name in that pop up until they’re full and mass declining them. Unlike retail there is no different message you receive for a full group vs a meaningful decline. Give group leaders that benefit of the doubt and assume the group was full.
You’re DPS and sent a whisper but all you said was ‘Inv’
Sometimes this is all you need, but if the group leader got 10 other ‘inv’ whispers they may not pick yours. Try to advocate for your skills/gear if you have any, or be at the stone ready to summon. Make sure your whisper message stands out among 10 other whispers and is clear that you add value to the group.
You’re a tank or a healer and did either of the above
You need to tell the group leader what role you are in whisper - LFG is a bit buggy and it’s hard to trust the role assignment, make sure you tell the leader you’re Tank or Healer
You have greens/boosted gear
A party leader can’t actually see this until you’re in their party, so apply anyways. If you’re getting kicked for having bad gear, try again with a new party or see my guide below for starting a new one yourself!
You’re too low level
This is one of the few things the LFG tool shows a party leader, so chances are if the party leader is level 72 and you’re 68 they aren’t going to add you to their UK party. Keep trying or see my guide below for starting one yourself!
You’re not prepared or playing poorly
Once you get into a dungeon group they may still kick you. Make sure you’re doing basic dungeon 101 etiquette like letting the tank get aggro, letting the healer drink, not pulling extra mobs, doing the best damage you can do.
Run through a quick checklist before you enter a dungeon:
Do you have the best quality food/water for your level?
Is your gear repaired?
Do you have space in your bag.
And once you’re in the dungeon:
Did you buff everyone?
Are you in the right stance?
Is your pet correct for the dungeon, and in the right stance?
Did you say hi?
Being prepared and looking like a sentient human being goes a long way
Tried all that and STILL getting rejected from every group!?
Time to make your own group!
Be prepared - I know it might be intimidating to have to take the lead but follow this quick check list to make sure you’re ready!
Repair your gear
Have the best quality food/water for your level
Have space in your bag. Especially if you want to do multiple runs.
Head towards the summoning stone.
List yourself in the Group Finder (Hotkey I by default)
If you’ve never done this before, first select your role. And since you’re new to leading and struggling to find a group, might as well check the flag that you’re new player friendly
Go into the dungeon tab and tick off the dungeon you’re looking for.
Put something in the comment box. maybe ‘chill group, leveling gear welcome’
Press ‘List self’
Start inviting people out of LFG
Once you’re listed for the right dungeon you’ll see a list of everyone else who wants to do that dungeon. Start inviting them. Fill your group with 1 Tank, 1 Healer and 3 DPS. If there is one of those roles missing from LFG, keep looking but move to step 4
Advertise the the LookingForGroup Channel
Find out what channel your LookingForGroup chat ended up in. For me it’s 4. So I’d post ‘/4 LF Tank for UK - PST’
Keep posting this advertisment for as long as you need to fill your roles. Try to respect the flow of your LFG chat and don’t spam but also make sure you’re posting to keep the message visible. If you’re struggling to fill your group this way move on to step 5
Advertise in the Local Chat of the Dungeon Area
Similar to the step above, you can advertise (lightly) in the local chat for the area the dungeon is in. This is your best chance to get people in that level range who are interested in that content. Do not spam in this chat, just post once every 5~10 minutes.
It’s very unlikely that you’ll need to do anything beyond this in the current situation. Lots of people are leveling right now. But if you’re running out dated dungeons you may have to move to step 6.
Whisper targeted players
I have at times when doing old leveling dungeons had to open the /who list and ask shadow priests to come heal my dungeon. Don’t be scared of a bit of social interaction. Worst case they say ‘no leave me alone’ Be respectful and polite when you’re whispering people about dungeons. Who /who and check areas where people of the right level would be, or check by level cap. Send one message asking something nice like ‘Hey! We’re putting a group together for Sunken Temple, any chance you want to come heal for us?’
Have fun!
If you follow these steps you’ll get a great group together and I hope you have lots of fun doing your dungeon!
Let me know if you have any questions or are still struggling!
to get a group in wow classic, all you need to do is to pay $$$ to buy gear & that’s what most players do.
How to get groups. See people in LFG, click invite.
Congrats.
It really is just that simple I think some people are discouraged by getting declined but they may not realize that when a leader gets into LFG they get many whispers and invite requests and as soon as they’re full they have to decline them all
hearty chuckle
It’s weird, but the people that are still advocating for RDF seem to be all in the same camp. They just want to get carried. I don’t see anything else coming from y’all.
Boosted gear / greens for normals is absolutely fine and no one should be booted because of it and it just promotes a toxic environment.
Lower leveled characters, what is this exactly? People do know that a level 68 will make more use out of their secondaries than a 72 will since the higher level you the more secondaries you need to increase the % by 1%. That 68 could potentially do as much damage as a level 72.
So if these are the reasons to deny people from normal dungeons, its just bad reasons and no one should be denied other than you werent first and you should just request another group.
I have yet to have any issues entering groups and doing dungeons, no one has inspected me to say im not qualified either and im in greens and quest blues.
You’re of course welcome to disagree with the reasons, but the fact remains that they are reasons people get kicked or not invited. And arguing with the party leader about how unfair you think it is probably wont get you anywhere but added to their ignore list.
This is the reality of the game we’re playing and I’m just here trying to help people get around that
I think this is what people are having issues with digesting. Most disagreements I have seen have been solely from a theoretical standpoint rather than reality.
bro i throw up that im looking in the lfg and if after 10 or 15 minutes i dont get invited to something i look in the lfg and all the single ppl i just start inviting and ive never had an issue except maybe at like 4 in the morning but even then still it shouldnt take that long
Its still bad even if its still a reason. I wouldnt want to group with someone that is putting such high standards on a normal dungeon. What kind of insane requirements is going to be put onto heroics or even later in raids?
Your telling people that you wont get a group if you have these things. If you are underleveled you might as well not try to group with someone of a higher level. If you are in greens or boosted gear you might as well not try to group with people either.
You know what that kind of things actually does? Drives people away because they think they got a late start and will never be good enough to get into a dungeon.
they kinda did though didn’t they?
That’s not what my post said actually. And I’d appreciate if you didn’t make accusations based on an incorrect understanding of my opinion on the subject.
In my post I explained that if the Group Leader is for example level 72 - and you are level 68, they may be more likely to pick level 72s then they are someone 4 levels lower then the rest of the group. Never once did I imply that being level 68 is too low for the dungeon. It’s not. If you as a player are lower level then the party leader, and are rejected, this may be a reason why. You are still empowered to make your own group, or look for group leaders closer to your level to avoid this. Or heck, keep applying to higher level ones, why not?
There will always be people filtering through the content. When I was re-leveling my rogue in the pre-patch I did lots of hell fire dungeon runs, but at night when the server was slower I did have to whisper local shadow priests and ask them to heal It’s a bit more work, yes, but it is possible.
you could always quest until lvl 70. i didnt realize you were talking about 68 i feel like that is kinda low for the first dungeon. spend some time in borean or howling hit 70 then hit up the lfg
