Stopped reading there. This is just getting exhausting.
And remove others.
There isnât a one way solution
and what you may want I have zero desire for.
Some of those are great ideas to maybe be brought back in certain elements of the game play. Others I respectfully disagree, for example I like not having flying for the first part of the game and earning it. #YouDontSpeakForMe
Thatâs all fine and good, but I personally just donât think those subs will ever go back up to even half of what they once were. How many times can we apply the same formula over and over before people just simply get bored?
New xpac = 1 new raid and 7-10 new dungeons. Plus, you get to quest 10 more levels. Go collect 8 animal paws and kill 10 bad guys over and over. Next patch? A new raid! Next patch? A new raid and a new dungeon! Maybe sprinkle in some new world content every patch or two⊠Boom done⊠Next xpac!!
Even leveling up this xpac was totally pointless. No new skills or talents⊠We literally just leveled because⊠well⊠itâs what we do every xpac.
People say thereâs no content in BFA. Go back to lich king, which a lot of people tend to think were the âglory daysâ. There wasnât anything to realistically do if you werenât a raider⊠Maybe go hit up your jousting dailies? Woohoo⊠They added Warfronts, people gripe about them. Island Expeditions? People donât like them.
WoW will have an organic life, like all games.
Not all changes are good, I agree. But like I said earlier, I would rather have them try something new, fail, learn from their mistake and do better next time than do nothing at all.
As I just said in the other reply you can make the case that they took the pruning too far but the flipside was some classes having an absurd number of keybinds to manage.
This whole azerite gear thing was trying to give people lots of ways to customize their gear but they did a terrible job on the implementation.
For talents, I keep going back to the same response. Depending on what you were doing, there were only ever a few that were worth considering no matter how many you had to choose from.
As for rep, I mean more routes to gain rep I donât have a problem with, but I donât think the way it is set up now is a big deal either. Two months in and all my rep is done and I didnât go out of my way for any of it.
I agree with everything on this list, but I would also tell them they need to stop making the armor that covers youâre entire body. We have way way more than enough of that type of armor at this point. We need more skimpy armor in this game. A lot of people in this game are still wearing the skimpy armor from TBC and Vanilla such as the Mageweave Leggings and the Glorious Legplates and they look very outdated and in turn it makes this gme look very outdated. Pretty much the only Truely skimppy armor we got in BfA was the Void elf heritage armor chest piece, but that is for Void elves only and its purple and gold so hardly anything matches it.
1 - Maybe make it less RNG-y because it could be a fun way to have upgrades otherwise I agree.
2 - I would go back to Legion, my DH feels very gutted.
3 - I agree.
3e - It would be nice too.
4 - Iâm there with you.
5 - Letâs just leave the poor horse alone.
6 - They will be Horde.
7 - I agree.
8 - Better story, I agree.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
good one
His response⊠Was simply awesomeâŠ
All games die. At some point the subs will barely cover maintenance and development costs. Development and patches will be scaled back and subs will further decline⊠then more development will be cut⊠etc⊠etc⊠this is the inevitable death spiral.
The best that can be done is to reduce the rate of decline. They will need to increase efficiency (better tooling), increase innovation, reduce costs all in an effort to be the last MMO standing.
Blizzard will have more games in development, this is a given. The interesting challenge that is there is a whole generation of gamers coming who think that paying more than 99 cents for a game is too much. Many expect games to be free to play.
Games die at the discretion of the publisher. If the publisher decides it isnât worth making new content for it then it dies. So long as the publisher continues to provide new content (stories, character progression, etc) then it will not die.
No, the best job isnât to slow the decay but to reverse it. If WoW were a dead game we wouldnât have had so many millions coming back for WoD launch.
Those people are all still there, unsubscribed because the publisher direction in BFA was sorely lacking.
My statement about the future was NOT about the game itself however. As it stands I couldnât care less if they try to reinvent themselves or go back to the past. At this point I seriously doubt anything will change the game for the better, maybe if all of the sudden Activision vanished in a puff of smoke?
They donât have to completely remove it, just make it so it canât titanforge higher than the next difficulty.
They just need better class design. Thoughtful class design. MoP was full of boring abilities they added for flavor. They need to add things that will make an impact and invoke choice.
Yes please. Iâm happy with tier gear being gone, it pigeon holed you into a spec or playstyle you didnât like. But we need class specific armor sets for at least transmog. Plus, I miss meta jewel slots. And I think reforging would work with the current gearing system.
Dear lord yes!
Sure!
They are adding vendors back into the fold. Hopefully they are just as good. Doubt it though.
Yes.
Eh. Take it or leave it. They have to cut corners somehow.
Wait hold on hereâŠ
Wait, what? Hold onâŠ
No. I like the fact I earned my Allied Race.
The writing is actually the best itâs ever been. Objectively.
Naxx was not a terrible business decision. Releasing TBC so soon after Naxx was a terrible business decision. Should have given players at least 3 more months to break into Naxx.
Lost me at High Elves. Why give a Horde race to the Alliance, thatâs just stupid.
You are right about fads but wrong about how they are created. Fads exist because of the world macro and the world macro is always moving forward. The world macro is becoming less patient and more instant gratification. Itâs only going to go more in that direction and you wonât be able to create fads against the tide.
To fix the game in its current state, a few things could be tweaked.
Make all azerite powers bound to the amulet (thus freeing up the âazerite item slotsâ to be regular items with secondary stats â you could make certain mobpoints in raids give the âpowerâ that you want to be added to the necklace â i.e. the overnerfed azerite lasers.
Work a way into the system that lets us âenhanceâ our legendaries from legion to let us use it past 116 and into 120.
Make reputations truly accountwide to avoid the grind.
Make warmode equitable by putting âallâ warmode people with at least 24 other warmode people from the same faction â limit the number of opposing factions from coming into that zone by sharding them into another equal zone.
Remove Item level scaling from monsters. I feel weaker the higher my item level gets (also scales legion zones so my 120 with good gear kills legion monsters slower than my equipped 110s do). (If I am using a pre-bfa character that hasnât entered bfa, then my legion weapon âshouldâ still work. â lorewise it doesnât make sense that it doesnât because otherwise my alliance character wouldnât have saved the HM tauren, but rather would have let them be defeated and killed off.
Retro expansions â bring back the gold to draenor garrison follower missions and to legion wq with the right follower gear equipped (raise the gold to pre-nerf levels).
Stop ignoring your player base.
Stop telling us how to have fun and actually let us enjoy the things we liked before.
Donât take the worst elements from previous expansions (scenarios â which you promised to not do anymore then you gave us islands â psych you lied) and push them to the next just to add filler (that is what WQ are currently â filler.)
Remove warforged and titanforged from the game altogether and put back the system from pandoria where we could use tokens to âenhance our own itemsâ as we see fit for dungeon tokens (thus giving people a real reason to do dungeons again).
Points 2 and 3 by themselves would secure the subs of most people who have left. Class design is this expansionâs most crucial flaw, followed closely by Azerite gear and RNG^n loot system.
I am not at all opposed to the game being reworked in various fashions. There are plenty of things I would change. But taking it back to what it was 12 or more years ago would not magically make it a better game.
If you asked many of those who played in Vanilla and the expansions up to about Wrath, they would likely say that the social aspect of the game was what made it special. And that IS reliant on people. And whether you want to admit it or not, the way people behave on the internet has changed significantly in the past 15 years. Itâs almost an âinnocent ageâ scenario because then MMOs were new and people were less likely to behave as they do today.
If you, or anyone, expects the gameâs social environment to magically revert to the way it was back then, then I suspect you would be in for disappointment.
I honnestly dont understand the hate for titan or warforging. Its feels so good to get that nice surprice to have a herpic piece i may already have titan forge, or get a socket. I really dont think this featire is keeping from people from playing. But if you hate it i hope you destroy all the pieces you get.
Something happened between the end of wrath and cata, the pkayer base just seemed to becone kinda crappy in game. I spent cata without a solid guild and trying to run even heroic dungeons with pugs was so awful.
