I remember back when BC launched Blizz said to a few servers.
“Either take the free transfer or we will split the server.”
Before you call me an idiot. My idea is not to split servers. But to put some infrastructure in place to prevent overpopulation and imbalance. Let’s take a look at the current scenario.
Skream has a 98.3% horde ratio.
Stalag has a 98.5% horde ratio.
Incindius now has an 81.6% alliance ratio
Westfall has a 78.4% alliance ratio.
These are some of the imbalanced servers. Offer free transfers with a cap. Allow 1000-1500 people to transfer off Skeram or Stalag for free to Incindius or Westfall. Some horde tip over to those servers.
Once the free server transfers are done, offer discounted transfers to other servers that badly need some ratio fixing. Make sure to cap it. As you don’t want to tip the scales to the other side. This solution is so easy its not even funny.
Prevent people from transfering to or creating charcters on the heavy side of the bad faction balance. For example incindius, don’t allow more alliance to transfer there. Don’t allow people to make toons there.
I tend to think that Blizzard is just lazy. They don’t want to balance the servers.
There it is. Doesn’t matter how many solutions you come up with, because Blizz doesn’t really care.
There are a variety of way to approach this issue. Some of those ways are even complementary. Hell, some of the ways to fix the problem actually help with other population issues.
Doesn’t matter unless Blizz is willing to put forth the effort.
Don’t get me wrong, if you have a different preference, I feel that you should have realms that are smaller and accommodate you and your preference.
I do not in any way however think that Herod should be forced into being anything but one of the largest population servers of Classic… (as it started, before it even started).
Again, there are more factors in choosing a realm than population. If you don’t like this fact, you can write down your complaint on a piece of paper, and then take that paper home and flush it down the toilet.
Oh it’s easy to prove what someone’s reasons for picking a server were.
I just have to ask the person who has those reasons. We can determine based on the testimony whether that person picked the server based on population or some other factor.
Turns out I’ve done the experiment. The person in question claims to have had other reasons for picking Herod.
They could be lying, of course, but in this case I’m able to read their mind and determine that they’re not lying about their reasons for picking Herod.
