How to fix mythic+ overnight

Do you not vet people right now?
How do you currently determine who to invite to your +10 groups?

So your current method of vetting people is checking the level of everyone’s current key before inviting them to your key?

Not excessively. I’m not looking up list of previous runs, or checking logs.

How though?

Timed the key or above and invite. It’s rare for people to then fail.

My suggestion was to allow the timer to be toggled off, but for a timerless run to not count whatsoever towards IO/completion tracking. Could that possibly be a reasonable compromise? It wouldn’t require extra vetting, as someone completing timerless runs would display exactly the same as someone who never completed any run at all.

Soon you’ll start saying “I shouldn’t be doing mechanics! That’s only for Tanks/Healers! I should only be min/maxing damage!!!”

When I join a group (tank) I expect the keyholder to be mildly decent at the game to be playing at the level of the key

That works in theory, but people will just not do said keys.

There’s literally no penalty for failing the timer, and people get a bonus for timing it.

How do you vet people when you run your own keys?

I think the people saying they will not run M+ due to the timer and depletions might do them. I could be wrong, but I feel it would broaden the appeal of M+ while not inordinately hurting the people who prefer the current timed system.

No don’t be ridiculous

but then you have a +10 with lower rewards.

Or people do those, and get free x key because it can’t be failed.

And if keys can be converted, that creates a bad system too “you can do this, but actually, it doesn’t count.”

doing dungeons that are harder than mythic.

so regular dungeons r harder than mythic+?

they can be tuned that way with an infinitely stacking buff to hp and damage, yes.

M+ is fine though.

I think there are somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 million keys so far for the season having been logged?

Why?

Again. Why?

Just use your cd’s in the right places, and your defensives in the right places.

Idk about all that…

In what world should I care what loot somebody has? How does that affect my ability to play the game? It’s hard to have a comversation if you are assuming I’m lieing.

Attempting to keep a good faith discussion going, assuming you arent going to assume that I am lieing, this is a reasonable compromise. As long as somebody who has never completed a timed 10, can then do the untimed version and be handed a +10 timed key. I still don’t agree with the removal of key depletion, as much as it can be inconvenient when a run goes sideways if you truly belong in those keys you will be able to upgrade it back to where it was, as opposed to a boosted player they very likely will continue to fail said key until it is down where they belong, whatever that level is.

Faux, you are being unreasonable brother. Unless it’s just a preference thing or something. If course the abilities will eventually one shot no matter what. What I’m saying is it’s much more interesting if the wall we hit is a DPS wall instead. Take last season, for example. The first boss of rise, tyre was his name. Eventually that boss on tyrann just became a matter of whether or not you had the comp and externals to survive the boss. Same with third boss of fall. It was especially egregious in fall, as you had a hundred years to time it.

That’s why you don’t even consider an applicant’s item level. They need to have the score and experience. Then having gear doesn’t give them score.

Are you sure about that? Like, people keep complaining about timers, if that’s the blocking point.

For example: Azure Vaults. (Before the skips were known.)

Rise, Neltharus were also contenders.

Also, challenger’s peril… when it’s not the dying part they hate, it’s the additional penalty.

Anything that causes people to fail, will be complained about, regardless of what it is, or what difficulty people are doing. Many of those complaints, are unreasonable.
