So I’ve recently tried to submit a ticket for not being able to post in the Story forum, but before I can submit one Bliz wants to confirm my identity first. This alone is strange since I’ve submitted a couple tickets in the last few months and didn’t need this. But it wants to confirm it by sending a text msg to a phone number, I no longer have. When I go into my profile to change the number, I can’t without entering the msg sent to the phone number I don’t have.
How do I change this phone number if I don’t have the old number?
To answer this, you aren’t able to post there because your account is inactive. Inactive accounts can only post in a couple of categories (such as Support).
Different support requests will require different amounts of verification. So it just depends on how you tried to open the ticket. It sounds like you do need to open a ticket to change/remove the SMS Protect. Instructions can be found here.
As the article mentions, this sort of account update will require you to submit an ID so use that option when you go to open your ticket. It should look something like this:
