How to change Curseforge to use 3.4.x.x add ons?

It still says BCC as this is only pre-patch, will Curseforge get an update?

Well, the current WoW Classic client is evolving into Wrath, so any non-wrath version of the game is going to be the “alternate” fork of the client. All of your addons should be automatically retooled as Wrath Classic versions once the authors update them.

Manually install if Curseforge doesnt get updated client today, sometimes they may need a bit longer on some addons, just see what works and what doesnt when you login, then go from there on manual installs (you can find 3.3.5 Addons out there if you search)

Ahhh poo that reminds me i need to actually get some mods downloaded, as i just resubscribed for LK.

Thanks!

all my addons were updated today already on curseforge. but i dont use a ton of em, only 4 or 5

I am using the client, that’s what I am speaking of, it still shows it has 2.4.x.x BCC (if it wasn’t clear).

curseforge client just popped up an update notice to me if that helps?

a few of them already updated. i remember the transition from vanilla to tbc being only a minimal bit on pain. i think it took max 2 weeks for EVERYTHING to finally update for tbc. but you can still play just fine w/ outdated addons. i never really had an issue save for some smaller less important addons than the big ones for me (wow is borderline unplayable for me w/o bartender and leatrix maps)

How do I even find wow-classic in the curseforge app? I can only find retail.

Curseforge needs to update their client to allow for addons supporting WoW version 3.4.0.

If you go onto the addon page on curse directly you can see updates for 3.4.0, for example “Details!” published their update a month ago on July 31st but Curseforge is not pushing any addons past version 2.5.4 since it is still considering this client to be The Burning Crusade.

For now we will have to manually update our addons until Curseforge is updated.

Some of the retail addons actually work for “classic” since its the same engine.

The problem I’ve run into is the Curse app set my Wrath Classic Beta directory as the main Wrath Classic and hasn’t updated the BCC directory to reflect that the 3.4.0 files should belong there. So for now it’s updating them in the beta location and then I’m copying them manually over to the Classic directory

Thank you so much Venger! Was looking for a quick solution and this worked great. I had no idea the correct addons were going into the wrong folder. Just copy them and bam all my addons are working for wrath classic. Thanks so much again.

This unfortunately only works if one got beta access, so not for me :(.
But still thanks for the tip, it seems to be very helpful to those who do have it!

This made me realize the solution for anyone still having problems with this.

My wrath client was reading as “BCC” and my wrath beta was reading as “Wotlk Classic”. Hit the 3 : drop down menu in curseforge to the right of the client select and click “Open Instance Settings”. Change your wrath beta to “Wotlk Beta” and your main classic client to “Wotlk Classic” and when you relaunch curseforge you’ll get a prompt to update all your addons to 3.4.0

Edit: My laptop’s curseforge didn’t have “Open Instance Settings” when I clicked the 3 : drop down on it, but I was still able to fix it by clicking Settings (bottom left corner) > World of Warcraft > changing my wrath beta to “Wotlk Beta” and my main classic client to “Wotlk Classic” > restarting curseforge

Hey Taejun,

I had the same issue (CurseForge called my game BCC despite being 3.4.X and all of my addons were considered to be “up-to-date” despite still being on version 2.4.X).

I solved the problem by uninstalling CurseForge and redownloading+reinstalling it.

After reinstalling, my CurseForge calls my game WotLK Classic, and recognized that my addons were out of date and offered to update them to 3.4.X.

I hope this helps!

Cool info…thanks.

tack this on for any elvui users…unless tukui updated (not that I saw as of last night) if you use that you jsut hit up the site for wrath elvui, unzip and manually drop the 2 folders where there tbcc ones were.

Finally have updated addons for WOTLK! Had to download CurseForge as a standalone from their website, not Overwolf. Found the new WOTLK Classic….and loaded addons! Works like a charm! I did not even remove my original CurseForge thru Overwolf!
