How to appeal an IP Ban?

A guildmate of mine got his main account banned about 6 months ago and had appealed it back then without a favorable response. So he waited the 6 months to get unbanned as the time dictated and now all of his accounts are banned despite not doing anything to warrant it as far as I am aware. He has mentioned that he can’t appeal through the usual means because he can’t even log into his battle.net account with the ban in place.

What can my guildmate do to appeal the current ban he is dealing with?

he can create a new battle.net account with a different email, but the name and information the same for the banned one, and use that to appeal the bans. He will just need to reference the banned account in the appeal tickets.

Just an FYI, Blizzard doesn’t do IP bans as they can be easily circumvented.

Gotcha. Was not aware of this. The last thing I was aware of is he got a message sent to him to verify his account. But it requires him to log into his battle.net account which he is unable to do at the moment. Thus why I am seeking an answer for him to get the banned appealed.

You wont get any details your friend can create a lvl 10 toon on the new account and post here. That being said the penalty mite not have fallen off yet those are down to the sec.

Will pass on this information. What was weird though is that it was only his main account for the 6 months. The day that his account was to be unbanned, it did not get unbanned. A week passed and then all his accounts were banned. I do think he attempted to contact Blizz pertaining to the ban not lifting and then this is now the situation he is in now.

What was the ban for.

I am not for absolute sure. My assumption is around that he enjoys playing multiple accounts at the same time and he was doing this even prior to the change in ToS Blizzard had pertaining to the automation or tools (can’t remember the exact words) that supported this playstyle. So in short, multi-boxxing. He plays it completely manually to my knowledge. Multi-boxxing is foreign to me, so I could just misunderstand things.

Your friend might need to evaluate how they multibox in wow. No easy way to control multiple accounts at once under the restrictions that are in place.

Anything he might use to streamline things can get you in trouble

If he used programs before to streamline the process and they are still installed on the computer, that could also trigger Warden.

This is super suspicious. Was this in-game? That would have been a phish message and any attempt for your friend to visit the “site” to “verify” their account was them giving hackers their login information etc.

I’m wondering if your friend has lost access to their account(s) due to falling for a phishing attempt and the accounts being hacked.

Seems odd if he had one or two licenses suspended or banned he should be able to log into bnet.

Possible his bnet account was compromised

My guild did have this as a theory except that the verification message was via email. But since the email is pertaining to account verification, the assumption could be that it happened prior to him placing the ticket which is what had the email sent.

Having theories or assumptions, especially about someone else’s account, are going to go nowhere.

The only person who can appeal, or even get any information shared, is the account owner. Not you, not the guild, not a significant other, not family, no one else.

They need to open an appeal through the ticket system. That is the only way to have it looked at.

Have your friend make a trial account and post here. While there’s no guarantees, sometimes the blues in here can help

Yeah, that was a phish. We don’t do that.

He’s likely compromised, and banned accounts are common when they are stolen. They don’t steal them to do ‘nice’ things with them.

Still, he needs to be the one to pursue this, but just from that one point - I’m going to hazard a semi-educated guess that’s what’s happened.
