That’s a table flip right there.
I only have one problem with this.
People who are opposed to completely seperate and fresh servers mostly all say they’re opposed because it’s not how it was back then but neither is your proposed idea.
Why should people be allowed to have two of the same characters playable across two different versions of the game.
You should have to choose between rerolling or a complete transfer over.
nobody wants that. everyone wants a progression into tbc. nobody wants to be forced to start over again at level 1 to play tbc
Thats not true.
My personal preference is to start over fresh on seperate TBC servers.
you have chosen the wrong preference
Agree to disagree.
As I looked at the many different ways people are suggesting BC be released I realized there’s only two ways, only two groups of people.
Those that want BC released the way they want to play and want every one else forced to accept that and play that way. My way or the highway.
Those who want BC released the way they want to play but also want there to be servers released the way other people want to play too. Different strokes for different folks.
Why the f*** should you have to choose?
The entire existence of classic wow invalidates that statement
by your logic classic wow shouldn’t even exist because the game progressed through expansions so you have no choice but to play current retail
Why in the hell would you be AGAINST people getting to keep their character on a vanilla server instead of deleting it from classic just to progress it in TBC classic? It would literally ONLY be positive with zero negatives
Your logic is purely spiteful and makes no logical sense
Back in the day there wasn’t two separate wow clients with entirely different versions of the game to play, you had no Choice but to play on expansion servers, today that isn’t the case, so your “we didn’t have a choice back in the day” argument doesn’t really hold up
Let people have their classic characters forever AND play that same character in the separate TBC client. How could you possibly rationalize being against letting people have that?
Go back to my orginal post where i said the 2 server options.
Progressiver servers may be the easy and best way to go forward. However you undercut a part of the population that wishes to be left alone in Classic.
Transfer Copy servers allows for players to continue the character they have from classic to tbc. This allows for the Progressive players to continue down the path of the character they have.
The last group wants a Fresh start on some kind. New servers with no copy/Transfer options to have a reset on economy.
So at the very least there are 2 groups that wish to move forward to TBC and how we get there allows for 2 options. that satisfy nearly all aspects of what is being asked. Will blizzard do this? Who knows. For all we know Blizzard will just have starting level 58 Transfer servers where you can only copy 2 characters from live with gold caps.
Yeah the starting fresh is a game breaker. Not sure why anyone wants to throw their progress away and start over. Won’t happen.
Some people were going to start over anyway with the new races. Or going to swap factions. Some want to swap for economic reasons. Some might not want to start on an established server. Fresh Crowd who loves that new server community and feel
Im sure theres more reasons that people can offer but. It would seem that not everyone is that attached to there Classic characters.
Two more years of this thread.
So you think you should just be able to copy your classic character to TBC servers, no restrictions?
yes 10 chars
Wrong. I want a fresh server as that was my tbc experience.
I don’t know why people think that rolling a new toon on a fresh server is such a big deal. People do it all the time.
I get it, you don’t want to lose all the hard work you put into your toon. That’s completely fair. Just have fresh servers for some and transfers for others. Everyone is happy.
All of these “please release TBC with (insert terrible idea here that makes 70%+ players upset here)” are so cringe. Your “one solution fits all” will make so many less people play and are objectively bad for the health of TBC classic.
First off, have classic chars xfer to a classic-containment server (avoids dead Classic servers when TBC drops)
Then add TBC servers as follows
- Allow character copies from Classic server to new TBC servers
- Add new servers that start at level 1 with server transfers to it disabled for 5+ months
- Add new servers that have a premade 58 option (brings tons new players that didn’t want to play Classic and skip vanilla content)
Any ONE of these ideas is awful by itself, but having all 3 options is the ideal and best solution to TBC. Please stop shilling these awful “one size fits all” ideas that will just kill the game.
If they do either of those I’m leaving. I made my characters for a closed classic.
You only need 5 friends to get a fresh classic leveling experience any time you want? And you could have a gold cap when transfering characters to a TBC realm.
Idk it doesn’t have to be so complicated.
your original post did not include 2 server options. it included only one type of tbc server, one that required all players to start over at level 1
the ONLY solution is a snapshot on launch night, then copy paste over onto tbc servers. this is the least obstructive, most natural progression concept. all these “hur dur lets make everyone forced to level from 1 again hur dur muh ecomony”
