How should dual spec work in anniversary?

Hey guys.

So now that dual spec is here, or rather confirmed but will be implemented at a later date, how do we feel it should work? Should it be a 1 to 1 to the current dual spec? Anywhere, anyplace, anytime? Or do we feel like it should be modified in a way so its only changeable at class trainer/major city? OR, something else?

Thoughts? Let’s discuss folks

You should only be able to switch in major cities.

major city

If it’s changeable anywhere, switching specs between every boss will be required.

That would be stupid if you could switch anywhere.

After some thought, I’m onboard for this too.

The standard Dual Spec rules work just fine.

Gotta be major city only

Hasn’t been a problem in any iteration of WoW so far.

  1. You can swap specs at the trainer
  2. 10g per swap

I’d be on board with it being only in a major city.

Totally fine with that but also not convinced by what problems it would bring if people were able to do it anytime anywhere.

Guilds that were minmaxing were already doing a version of this by swapping out people and for the dad guilds this really won’t do much anyways.

Either way I don’t care as long as I can raid as holy/disc and then go shadow for pvp without it costing me 200g+ per lockout I’m grateful.

Major city is probably the best compromise.

You see, I think we are at a bit of a crossroads here…

On one side, Blizzard is clearly experimenting and trying new things. I mean we know Anniversary is not Era, SoD, SoM, Cata, it’s in its own lane. Otherwise we would not have any changes at all.

On another side, Blizzard said they want to keep “the spirit of Classic”. Private servers aside, dual spec for Vanilla Classic has not been done before.

So, what should we do here?

I agree with everyone here. It’s got to be major cities only. I wouldn’t want switching between bosses to be a requirement.

Or, as Blizzard said, “After working through a great deal of player feedback, we’ve decided to provide some additional changes that will a part of the Anniversary Realms.”

  • Dual specs

That doesn’t say anything about experimenting. It says they are implementing a feature based on feedback.

In that case, WE are experimenting.

Agreed with those who say it should only be switchable in a major city.

What is the experiment though? We know exactly what we’re getting and I’m far from convinced that allowing hybrids access to a legit spec and a meme spec is going to affect the game in any sense.

There are guilds out there that don’t have a massive bench but also expect their players to min/max.

This is the biggest problem with dual spec for me as I hated doing this in Wrath. It was with a guild who I had played with for years. I wasn’t interested in guild shopping and ended up quitting Wrath. Not enjoying this style of gameplay was one of the reasons (although to be fair there were like 10 reasons, but either way I did not enjoy this). I think that the people who are so quick to blow this off either haven’t had to deal with it or like the swapping playstyle.

I think in Era the problems with just being able to swap anywhere would be worse.

Major cites with a small cool-down of 1-3 hours.
OR
Major cities with a limit per day you can flip flop.
