How realistic

Hey everyone, how realistic is it for a new player to get into the end game scene?

Would I be blocked by GDKPs?

Is it easy to get into heroic+ to gear up, or are people requiring a certain iL to join them?

Thanks everyone!

It’s vary realistic and quite easy to.

People are quite often making alts and swaping we even had a few swap for this tier.

The only question is how much effort you want to put in and if you find a guild that runs at the times you want. Server is a large factor in that.

Gdkp is an option if you want to play them but don’t need to at all.

As for gearing up there is no gearing up required. If you are playing something worth taking into a raid comp people will take you in. Guilds have to constantly be recruiting to stay alive and as such you are able to join and guild regardless of gear but you may just not be a main team raider at first till you gear up based on the rank of guild you joined.

It’s super easy to get into h plus to gear up. Mention in guild you’re doing a run and make a guild group.

Now if you’re talking about doing everything in pugs the answer is why bother. You gear for the end goal which you are not likly going to be pugging for your end goal so why would you not start with finding what you need for that goal a guild. As unless you are planning to join a gdkp community and even than they often are lead by a guild almost everything at the end game starts with your guild other than pvp.

Ignore that other person.

It could be server dependant but the general community seems to be really elitest with GS and gatekeeping H++.

I recently brought a friend into the game, rolled on a new server (Pagle Alliance) and we played during JJ and when AV weekend hit we grinded until 80 and got honor capped, bought full Deadly and some pieces of Furious Gladiator. Asked around in Trade if that’s good enough gear for H++ and while most people said sure, the reality is in LFG nobody wants you. “Make your own group” people here say, it really doesn’t change the fact once you summon people and they see your GS (or pvp gear) they just leave, or if they don’t leave just spend the time complaining they carry you.

I enchanted my gear, gemmed everything, bought some decent epics BOE from AH and yet it’s not enough.

So, what are our options? Nobody really runs naxx anymore, Normals/Heroics/H+ are beyond dead so, like, what’s left? Ulduar? Why is content that rewards Uld 10 gear locked behind doing Ulduar. Imagine if you had to run Ulduar to gear for Naxx.

What server is good for a new player to start on? Faction doesn’t matter that much, or should I try to find a guild that would take on new player?

I appreciate the quick and informative response!

Agreed…

I was practically chased out of Pagle realm after hitting 70… Way too many ego jerks xD

Which is why I’m staying in vanilla… Least you can get into most content with questing gear and not have much issue finding pugs.

Raids might be a bit selective but all vanilla raid fights are just tank and spanks.

it will depend on your activity and the class you’ll play!

but here is what you should expect:

A-you’ll level solo questing from 1 to 80 without any interaction with any player as you won’t step into any dungeons or find any help for hard quests.

B-once you’re 80 “gz” But no one will ever invite you for anything because your low gear score as fresh char and if you want gear as starting point then you have 3x choices…
1-spend some days in farming gold to buy epic level 80items from auction house
2-buy (gold)token to save time so you can buy those epics from the AH
3-buy more (gold)tokens to buy raid ticket runs since most gdkp’s won’t even take you as fresh unless you’re so rich.

C-join random Bg’s, get some honor, get some shiny high item level pvp equipment and this is your best option since you can semi afk in bg’s as they’re full of bots anyway.

D-find a guild but good luck finding active/friendly guild that is willing to help or carry you!

E-queue for basic heroics “but go watch movies” Since probably no one run basic heroics anymore so you’ll be lucky if you ever found a group. “even on full servers”

F-queue for tier7 raids “naxx/os/maly” But don’t get high hopes because most of the times people will instantly kick you once they see your low gs/hp.

G-try to make friends but i don’t think this is a thing in 2023 classic, most people are playing on multi char and nearly none will accept your real id friendship.

summery: if you’re not insanely active then you’ll be crippled because finding/filling groups take ages, and if you’re sensitive then you won’t survive classic it’s filled with tons of toxic players and jerks who think they’re elites, and if you’re not playing a certain OP class then you’ll be ignored, this game is not what it used to be where you can find pugs anytime! the game now is manifested with Real money trades and people want to get paid to play so no one will do anything for free!

Good Luck but you should know that what awaits you is a pure struggle in this harsh world called Wrath classic.

Pvp gear is not optimal because your missing the third stat that is replaced by resilience. Missing the third stat reduces your dps by a lot. With pvp gear in heroic plus you would be carried.

The above changes when wrathful pvp gear arrives.

Yeah, I’m aware PvP gear is sub optimal, but the other stats being considerably higher beats the alternatives of trashy quest blues/greens.

And again, can’t really get PvE gear because Nobody does Normals/Heroics/Alpha, Naxx is pretty barely run as well.

Fearlina for horde Ben for allie.

You could look for a guild but than if it falls apart and on a smaller realm your traped there best to just be on the biggest in the first place.

This thread seems to have a similar topic.

Blocked by gdkp? You have no idea what gdkp is do you?

Doesnt matter. Most ppl only look at the gearscore. The only time they look closer is if you are performing very very poorly. So if u have pvp gear, u will pass the score test. That gets u in the raid. Then jist dont suck. Nobody will care.

If my experience leveling and what people are saying on these forums is anything to go by, not very realistic it seems. The open world is completely dead so good luck slogging through 79 levels completely solo without dying of boredom, and if the forums are to be believed no one will let you in their groups to start preparing for Ulduar and TotC unless you’ve already cleared Ulduar and TotC

I fear hopping back on my DK that I haven’t played since Naxx came out and trying to do anything at endgame, despite her being pre-Naxx BiS

I am not sure you do either.

Without bothering to read these long winded replies, I will answer with just this - pick a high pop server (benediction or pagle alliance, faerlina, whitemane, or mankrik horde) and find a guild.

Wrath is simply retails 2nd expansion. It isn’t Classic WoW.

If you want to reach the ‘end game scene’ you’ll need to purchase Dragonflight. Everything the other posters ITT discuss leads up to that.

Yes, these greedy neckbeards will fleece you. If you want to avoid these sub-humans try HC classic, they have no power there.

Hope you find what you’re looking for!

I am sure i do. When raid organizer of a gdkp is announcing LF buyers, fresh 80s welome, i dont think anyone is going to be getting blocked.

If you think gdkp blocks ppl that have lower gs and dont need to buy anything then u are either stupid or dont know what gdkp is. I find it hard to believe that anyone doesnt know that a gdkp raid with no buyers would even be considered.
And for you to question if i know only shows clearly that you dont have a clue also.

yes
