How old were you when you played Vanilla?

I had to be 16 when i started playing because i’m about to turn 31 in a month.

I was 30,

December 2005 my spouse asked what I wanted for Christmas. I told her WoW, but that she shouldn’t buy it for me. She did, and frankly she probably should have listened and not got it.

I was in highschool. 15 years old. I was trying to find time for wow between homework and sports.

Now my wife is going to start playing with me. She’s 25 and starting out. She’s dabbled but it’s time now.

I’m here to make everyone feel old. I got vanilla WoW on my 10th birthday, a few months after release. I heard about it from that show about cheat codes on G4 and HAD to have it. I had no idea what I was doing for probably the first 2-3 years I played but still managed to raid a little bit of BT back in the Burning Crusade.

Been playing on and off since Cata, more than hyped to get to Classic.

i was 14, and boy did my schooling suffer

now 28, recently divorced, bartending 3 days a week making way more than enough to pay my bills, otherwise completely rudderless.

COME GET IT YOU ALLIANCE SCRUBS

I was 9! And I was terrible! I got the game for Christmas in 2004. My first character was a Night Elf Druid. I thought that armor was the most important stat, so I bought all the white armor from vendors (yes white armor from vendors does have higher armor than any of the green BOE’s that you get while leveling). And I did a bunch of other equally stupid stuff. Like I couldn’t figure out the bear form quest, so I basically leveled as balance all the way to 20 when I got cat form. My brother, who was 20 years old at the time, also played and taught me how to suck less. Honestly though, even as bad as I was, it was still the most fun I had ever had playing a video game.

was 30, 45 now and have a bit more free time due to not being in school and work. In between relationships and no children, so my nights are free

I’m feeling like I was one of the youngest players in classic at this point. I started shortly after release while I was 6, I would play on my mom’s account and got to maybe level 50. Now I’m 21 and excited to actually experience classic.

I was 30, about 2 weeks from 31 when WoW launched. In my advanced age I guess I’ll have to make some adjustments to my previous “stay up for 3 days straight running Alterac Valley” schedule

32, yeah I’m old - deal with it.

I was single then and had just purchased a new condo. It’s pretty much the same now, except I make way more money. In between that time, I’ve accumulated like 12 ex girlfriends, and reached stage two on my mk5 GTI.

I didn’t start playing until Wrath. I was 43.
Going to turn 53 in about three weeks.

Bah, your still a young pup.

I started playing early 2006, I was 37.

Only played less than a year, before TBC launch in 2007.

I am now 51, and more than ready to venture back into the one and only Azeroth.

It was just never the same after TBC.

I was 18 when it came out, in college. Only responsibility was classes.

Now I’ve got like, a wife, a child, a job, a band, actual friends, UGH.

I was 32 when I started playing WoW and I am now 45. I don’t feel any older than when I started playing. I still have a young-at-heart outlook on life which I don’t think will ever change. I’m sure that is one of the reasons why I am still playing.

I am really enjoying reading the answers. We all have different stories, but the siren song of the game we love is bringing us back.
