I’m a little more shocked to learn that the Darkspear stopped worshipping their Loa. Since when? They dropped this bombshell and it creates a bunch of new questions they didn’t answer.

It’s just a heritage set, you know based on the past they’re not gonna fix it. On top of that in the game you have an extremely large amount of armors to choose from so there’s no reason you can’t just accept and move on.

Fair point but a lot of them are pretty out dated and the likelihood they’ll add any new Darkspear stuff any time soon is very slim. The Darkspear have a really iconic style with very specific items that are tied to their cultural armor that the player base has been requesting for over a decade now, and this was the window of opportunity.
It would be one thing if they worked really hard and made something cool and some of the stuff just wasn’t included but there are clear indicators on this set that show it went through almost no vetting process and wasn’t fitted to the troll model and straight up ignored nearly very single iconic feature. Personally I’m advocating for changes now since I know in about a week the window for them to change it will basically be closed, for me and the rest of us it feels like it’s worth a shot even if we’re likely to fail.

The bra on the female troll heritage is literally painted on. It’s not a separate mesh. Just putting it out there. It’s likely that the person who made the set is a beginner, I can see that, as I myself have made assets in the exact style Blizzard uses for WoW. I was even trained by some artists who used to work for them.
A lot of it is just paint over, not too much geometry.
I know a guy who in the discord server for making these type of assets made a troll set of armor that was much more boss than this, but he didn’t hand paint it, he made it in substance painter using a different shader. Let me see if I could find his artstation for you.

Again it’s the wrong shader so it wouldn’t work with wow, especially because it’s not handpainted.
It took him about 2 months to finish this, which kind of shocked me. But I think at the time he was still learning to use the software.

For some reason the bra is in the WoWhead link but the actual armor set uses the same armor as the men. (looks better on the women)

That’s epic! I’ve gotta agree it would have made a better heritage set. The boots look way cooler, the gloves, I love that he made an awesome glaive. He had the common sense to use an interesting belt plate. He added the potions, you can tell he actually cared about what he was doing. It isn’t based on any appearances specifically from the lore but at least it isn’t some terrible amalgamation. Looks like he might not have finished the back piece but it looks amazing.
He probably wasn’t working on it from 9-5 and wasn’t getting paid.
Well Blizzard (and everyone who handpaints assets) normally uses 3D Coat to texture, 3D Textura can just for the texturing feature. You can also use Blender but you have to be a little more advanced for handpainting in Blender.
For wow assets I think you can download their whole OBJ and maps in wow.tools the website.
It is tedious work, there’s a lot of learning in the process, especially with handpainting you should actually look at some videos detailing how to paint over the Ambient occlusion and greyscale maps.
I personally no longer do Handpainting anything, I prefer to make them look handpainted in substance painter, the quality is almost the same I make it look as rough as possible so it looks like I painted on paper.

Isn’t the whole darn thing sorta a go fund me already? We Did fund them , isnt that the point? Understand, my characters wore combinations of all kinds of wacky gear un mogged and I would not be caught shoveling out the kodo stalls in Troll heritage armor.

I have to say that this is reallyy impressive work. I’d only remove eyebrows from a face of the troll, make the glaive have longer blades and work a little more on back piece. But overall it’s ver impressive looking piece.
I especially love the tiki plate on the hand.
Could not have said it better myself, I’ve been playing this game more than long enough to know what effort from Blizz does and doesn’t look like.
And I’ve been paying them long enough to know once they have your money they stop trying. I’d be more than happy to be proven wrong especially here.

I’m right there with ya bub. This kind of thing isn’t going to get changed without all hands on deck and we’re probably almost out of time. If you haven’t spoken up about it yet this next week would be the best time to do it.
How much more feedback do they really need to show that the lack of effort that went into the set was not well received and the obvious mechanical issues like clipping and whatever is wrong with the upside down nose at the bare minimum need to be fixed? Let alone all the other problems and failures the set brought with them.
None it’s already been shown and they have to know by now, the set was dragged through the mud on WoWHead, Twitter, on their Youtube post, here on the Forums, they known full well what they did. The question should be how much feedback is enough for them to fix it?
Yeah they pulled down my comment on Youtube, I was being so nice too they really don’t seem to like criticism. Here’s an idea! Do a good job?

Oh now you’re just asking too much. It’s odd there were some comments getting taken down that were fairly benign and constructive then others that were just rude for the sake of rude got to stay, idk what the criteria is but their priorities are way out of wack.
I was checking out this website, are these links safe to download? It seems a little questionable.
I never had problems with it back when I used it, the files were all datamined from WoW itself. However the website looks different now and I haven’t used it in a long time.
