How much gold would the token cost?

I haven’t played any of the products that have the WoW token, I always managed to quit just before they were introduced, but the way I understand it is this:

You purchase a token from the shop and then place that token on the auction house through some controlled mechanism.

A player then uses gold to purchase that token and they receive game time credited to the account of the character redeeming it.

I know people hate the token, but I actually would love to be able to fund my subs with gold and remove the line item from my bank statements entirely.

But in this hyper inflated economy…

I checked the price of gold just now, and I’m guessing it would be just under 2500g to be competitive with the shadow RMT market.

Would that be an absurd cost? I am not sure I’d be able to slam out 2500g often enough, but my gold flow is pretty solid nonetheless.

alot has change since 2007 !

Generally the black market prices will always be a better return for your dollar than the legal token.

I’ll use arbitrary numbers.

$20 for 2000 legal gold.
$20 for 2500 illegal gold (run risk of a ban).

It’s up to you to decide the value of that extra 500 gold.

i got curious about this and went to one of the websites and 1000g was 40 or 45 usd.

not sure what the actual value of gold is but i was expecting the 25 dollar token to go for around 700g.

maybe im way off.

the token has to be cheaper than the illegal gold to make it worth it, right? i mean i guess not taking risk is incentivized enough for some poeple tho.

im not going to buy any of it either way

wrong, the incentive is to not get banned, the token has never been competitive

No cata token is worth 20k, but $20 buys you about 65k in illegal gold, people just choose a token because they’re not going to get banned for 3 weeks. I would fully expect a classic anniversary token to be valued at about $1,000 gold.

Based off those numbers I could see a 25$ token having an initial value of 400-500g

Right now I would drop $100 on the wow token and get 10k gold. Would boost my alts and buy epic mounts and all the BoE I could ask for. They need to add the wow token yesterday.

Those were just numbers I pulled out of my rear end. The actual values will more than likely differ.

Don’t care if they had the token I would spend $100 right now and never have to farm again. $100 could get me 2k gold and I would still do it. I refuse to grind against bots.

About tree fiddy.

Token in wotlk was like 4k before raised.

In anniversary should be like 1k

Sad. :pensive:

It’s around $11/1000g.

I could see the token being $20/1000g.

Since the illegal sites are always much cheaper but come with a risk.

I was getting about 300g per token doing trades. That was the common rate at the time. I’d like to think the token would be 400-500

Isn’t this a catch 22. If they ban for non-sanctioned gold buying, there is zero need for them to add the token to any form of classic. If they do not ban for non-sanctioned gold buying, why take the worse deal.

If they do add the token and start actively and accurately banning non-sanctioned gold buying. That is a pretty big indicator they could monitor and ban for it the whole time but chose not to…

But it’s not only gold buyers that want the token in.

I can’t wait for the token in anniversary tbh. Already have a list of classes I plan on boosting and epic mounts for so I am ready for TBC. Token will also make it so that more people are 60 meaning more raids for everyone!

Just a guess but something like 30K to 100k ish I am guessing, kinda based on the mass of the economy …

Specifically regarding Anniversary NS server.

Depends on the expac.

It’s a lot easier to farm gold in TBC and Wrath than it is in Classic.

The real question now is, when… Classic or TBC?
