So since there will be tons more stuff to buy in mop than there was in cata I’m looking for a rough estimate to be comfortable. When considering what to write for your response please take into account - special mounts, bmah, professions, gear, etc.
People said 100k was safe going into cata. Me personally I went in with 50k and did just fine.
Now I’ve made a lot more gold in cata than in wrath so I’m going to assume others have as well. For me personally I think a good start is around 300k
The black market auction house was released in MoP, so if there are items from there that you want you’ll need a lot more gold than that.Otherwise you probably won’t need substantial gold overall, just another ordinary beginning of an expansion.
All depends on if you buy a lot of things.
I don’t GDKP or buy gear or anything else so less than 50K is all I need (thought I have around 500K) and that is probably 40K too much but I’ll just keep rolling it forward.
Depends on what you want to do… the reforge mount and other goodies are huge syncs but not required. There is also a lot of dailies in MoP which are a solid source of gold. You can honestly be empty handed and quickly build your gold on the expansion.
I would say the biggest factor is what you plan to do for professions. If your going in without any gathering professions and have needs for Ore and Plants, you’ll want to save some gold for sure. There is usually a very high demand and expense at the start of any expansion on materials.
Personally, I always go in seemingly broke, but even with no gold its super easy to make gold at the start of an expansion. Basically, everything from gear to reagents are super expensive at the start, so if you’re proactive you can go into any expansion and make a fair deal of gold, even if you don’t have any to begin with.
So, if you gather really quickly you can take advantage of all those that go in with massive hordes of gold.
Nothing wrong with planning ahead though.
It depends on if u want the yak or not that costs like 150k.
i’ve also read the jeweled onyx panther costs around 80k to make. mop definitely had some gold sinks
Depends on the goals here. Power level your professions for 1, 2, or 3 characters? Drop a ton of coin on BOEs? Tons of raid consumes for week one of raid launch?
Professions probably won’t be so bad unless you REALLY want them maxed out right when you hit 90.
Gear? A lot of pre-bis really comes from dailies and heroics. Some from professions here and there. Its a little less sinky here than Cata imo but close enough. I would expect to take a hit here.
Special mounts? Yeah you are going to want a good chunk of change for these if you “gotta have them all” and even more if you “gotta have them all, now”. No other way around here.
BMAH… its going to be a knife fight on this. You are going to have people that no life GDKP slaved for expansions worth of gold with several gold caps going for things on there. I think even being rich af is going to be less a factor than just having the will to drop the bag on single items for a lot of things on the BMAH.
