Just as the title shows, what would be enough gold going into Cataclysm comfortably?
5g
/10char
10k seems like it would be fine.
If you’re a caster wanting the legendary staff, it’s 9k for the sand of time.
Toss in 5k for 310 speed, 15k for a darkmoon card or a boe, enchants/gems assume around 3k, vender cost rep items, probably 1k, potions/flasks for raiding 2k a week for first month, leveling professions 10k.
I’d say 50k minimum to be comfy, 100k to be safe.
That’s up to you, but I don’t know why you’d want to stockpile gold for an expansion. It makes far more sense to invest your gold into materials, then sell them back. This protects you from the loss your gold will have with the expansion’s next level of inflation. You can actually profit on it too, if the materials spike enough in value.
- 200g to enable flying in Eastern Kingdoms/Kalimdor
- 5,000g to enable 310% flying
- Maybe like 100g for new spells (pretty sure you still buy them)
- 29,000g for the Vial of the sands (this is just the sands/vial)
So… I’d say roughly 10k is enough, not even for buying flying I feel that once you’ve hit 10k you’re just always set. Maybe with inflation it’s slightly higher but 10k is a good point.
Vial of the sands a epic mount or something?
buy multible Flamboyant Teebu
Soon will transmog and Teebu be worth a s** ton at that time.
My AH alts inflĂ te the price of Teebu more each day as i pen this confession
also similar other items (SaltStone…lofty…jade)
edit for potatoe grammar
Vial of Sands is a 2 person flying mount that is an RNG drop rate from archeology that is crafted from alchemists
It’s Cataclysm version of the Chopper/Hog for Engineers only this time it’s for Alchemists.
Interesting. I’m looking forward to that.
Yeah I’m looking forward to it as well but with them (the vial and and the sands) being limited stock items, you’re likely to spend more than the 29k.
10k isn’t enough.
Not enough to rush professions week 1 sure but 10k is enough for everything else. Casuals likely won’t be spending their gold on the new potions, flasks, gems, enchants and 310 flying nor would they buy DMF trinkets.
If you’re not a casual and you plan to raid week one on heroic then going into Cataclysm I’d say…
- ~16k gold on average for professions
- Gems would be ~200g each
- Enchants would be 500g+
- Potions would be ~10g each
- Flasks ~30g each
So total I’d say ~30k if you’re not a casual and even then that’s for only one character.
About 1 WoW token worth.
So ~10k
That’s not casual, that’s super casual.
Okay sure but actual casuals at the least won’t buy 310 flying, DMF trinkets and maxing out their professions week one.
Was the ability to buy 310% outright added in Cata? Huh, earlier than I thought. Then again I got it by default because I had Violet Proto-Drake at the end of WotLK.
I don’t remember when I got or how I got it back in OG days. I’d be curious to know when you can buy it. I don’t have it currently…I was not interested in cheesements, mounts, pets, holidays, etc. I’m only slightly interested in 310 (but not much)
