I mean thats what came up. Lol.
Blue post. Twitter. Relative hks between eras. Anecdote. Are you suggesting caps arenāt higher?
Itās not remotely true.
There is no source that says that. Anywhere.
Please do not spread unproven claims like this.
The caps are higher. He said the servers have more players or some such thing.
That is NOT true.
Now im confused. Higher caps per server were put in to allow more players per server after removing layers. Now im not sure what hes saying if it isnt that.
Theirs a wowhead article on it. Just google it
They are speaking of the actual server caps.
They stated they substantually increased server cap.
Caps being higher = servers have more players. They are the same thing.
History shows that Vanilla WoWās game population grew gradually, maybe 200,000 players every quarter over several years. There was never a dramatic spike in players, over 1 day, 1 week or 1 month.
Blizzard expected that Classic would have MILLIONS of players the very first DAY and WEEK, but that number would drop hugely over the next 5 weeks or 20 weeks.
So it would be crazy for Blizzard to plan the realm setup the same way as Vanilla. Those are 100% different situations.
the retail servers had a huge increase in the cap during WoD though because of how ridiculous the queues were on some realms. that plus sharding is why retail doesnāt have queues anymore. if you have anything that proves that the classic cap is higher than the retail cap just post it.
iām pretty sure heās talking out of his rear tbh. but i asked him for some proof. letās see if he deflects or actually pulls out some info.

See blue posts, apparently i am not allowed to post or mention links.
I donāt think that posts means what you guys think it does.
Or at least I donāt think it means what you guys think it does.
Well yes while layering was enabledā¦
They said the individual layer sizes were comparable to what a vanilla server would hold, we are now down to single layer serversā¦
i dont know if i can link these articles but i will try

edit:
Nope could not link, but i could do this, i think??
All of these are related to the initial launch when layering was in place and has to do with the number of players logging in which means they simply increased the number of layers per server.
They never increased the number of players per layer, which was always targeted at vanilla server levels.
And since all servers are now one layer, wellā¦
There was an interview with Ion at one point and he stated that medium pop servers today are not like medium pop servers during original Vanilla. That the capacity is larger.
Yes and this was all way back when layering was still a thing.
Part of the issue was people were seeing medium servers and wondering why they had a queue. And the issue was that the servers had a maximum number of layers which didnāt let more than enough people log in to actually see high/full servers.
All they changed was the number of layers per server, not how many people per layer.
And now that all servers are one layerā¦
Ok sit down, and take a breath a moment.
Now let us use logic.
We remove layering
We dont force people to go to another server, so they are still here.
So we take same amount of people flooding the layers
And we get them into 1 layerless realm.
There is only 1 means of doing that, increased capacity.
Vanilla capacity was only between 2500 and 3000
That was what they based the layers on IIRC
And servers went into queue because they did not have enough layers on the server.
edit:
I think i quoted wrong person?
You know servers have queues again right?
You realize there is a difference between number of players logged into a realm at one time and number of players who have characters on a realm right?
