I’ve only resubbed to play the stress tests and prep for classic.
I’ll probably log into BFA just to say I did but I doubt I will stay once classic gets rolling.

I’ll be playing both. I will probably spend more time playing Classic, mainly because retail is a bit boring right now. There are things that I like about both, so why not have the best of both worlds?
I can EASILY grab ton’s of mobs my level and mow them down. There is no danger at all. That’s just how they designed it.
Maybe some people can, this would be a complete waste of time as the xp benefit would be terrible.
I agree, this is a benefit in retail.
This can be done in classic as well.
To each his own, I feel this makes the game more boring and less immersive.
Hardest content, in my opinion, is not for the casual.
Highly disagree. When everyone is given a Ferrari the Ferrari becomes worthless.
No, you can’t.
I agree, boss fights are more mechanically enjoyable.
They are too easy, and mindless, with no immersion. I literally don’t even read them. I don’t enjoy this.
I agree here.
It depends on your group. In my opinion, dungeons are supposed to be more dangerous and something you have to fight your way into. It is part of the immersion. Yes, you won’t be able to magically teleport into one and knock it out without ever talking to your team mates in 15-30min. It makes dungeons more stale in my opinion.
That is true.
Ultimately, they are different styles of games.
I find retail more enjoyable in high end pvp, high end raiding, and high end dungeons.
Outside of that, I don’t find a lot of the game to be more enjoyable to me.
This thread needs to stop being necroed.
Had I seen this thread when it was originally posted, I probably would would have said, “Yes, I will only play Classic”.
After having an opportunity to play Classic, I can absolutely confirm that I haven’t bothered with Retail for more than a few hours since Classic was released. I absolutely prefer Classic over FF14, and I prefer FF14 over Retail.
Needless to say, if Classic didn’t exist, I would be devoting this $15 a month Square Enix’s bank account instead of Blizzard’s.
I dropped WoW mid WoD, and it would have been sooner but a friend bought me the expac.
Retail hasn’t rolled back any of the pruning or changes that took my fun away, so, no, without classic, I’d be playing WoWS.
There are children who have reached the age of 8 or 9 clinging to rhe idea that there is really a Santa Claus.
I gave up in retail. Played for maybe a month total in bfa and about 4 months in legion. Other then that haven’t really been a dedicated wow player since MoP. That’s when it all started going downhill. I’m loving classic but eventually I’ll run out of things to do, just like most of us. Truly the only thing that’s gonna pull me from classic is a diablo 4 announcement or if another wow expac releases and it truly looks amazing. I just don’t have any interest in retail wow anymore so it would have to be a pretty awesome lookin expac to peak my interest again.
I haven’t really played retail since Wrath ended. I quit early Cata and would only come back for maybe a month every now and then for story content.
Waited from WotLK to the last expansion for any indication that they are changing. Granted I can’t call the game a failure because of how successful it is/was, but it’s not my game.
Since I lost the appetite for hardcore raiding, retail WoW lost a lot of it’s appeal to me. When I saw patch 8.2 content update I thought it was gonna be a great patch and it turned out to be just more of the same. So lately I have a hard time getting excited for anything that wow throws at me.
I don’t think I can ever go back to retail. Hopefully we get classic plus or TBC next!
already done. I haven’t played retail since quite a while.
Classic is WoW, now. And it’s great.
I don’t see myself ever playing retail again now that classic is out. I may take a break from classic and if i come back it will be to play classic again.
I don’t like doing nothing but doing random group content and that’s pretty much all retail is at this point. Loot system is horrible and the world is empty.
I’m sure plenty of people still like it. It’s just not fun for me anymore.
Will? I stopped playing retail years ago…
I haven’t played retail in many many years and I have no intention of going back.
I came back for classic. I stop playing retail two expansions ago. Although I love the lore. The game isn’t what I loved about vanilla. Que, in raid, loot, repeat. Zzzzzzzzzzz.
With classic coming back, the first day was awesome! Everyone is looking to group up etc.
I stopped playing at the end of 2009. I resubscribed for a month in 2010 and then let it lapse again - this was during WotLK. I was just burnt out at the time.
I resubscribed in April to try retail out again - got a new “gaming” laptop and reconnected with a couple old guildmates.
Retail isn’t the game I left. It’s hollow. It’s easy mode with limited skills (pvp only skills?) and you don’t feel connected to the world or your realm. Everything is instant. Want a group? Boom. Want to get somewhere? Boom.
What I love about classic is that it feels bloody massive. You have to walk. You have to LFG in chat and actually work for it. You run into people around and you group with them to get stuff done. It’s very… organic.
A big part of it may be nostalgia too. I spent too much time playing and raiding back in the day.
But classic… it just feels right. I can’t wait for honor to be implemented.
I haven’t played live since WoD and have no desire to go back to it at all.
I came back for Classic, and im here to stay.
I’ll try the next expansion. Not getting my hopes up though.
