Gotcha. I shall spread the likes out
On the bright side if Covenants crash and burn maybe that will be the wake up call to just make things simple again and drop the recycled borrowed power system.
Looking at how hard the borrowed power systems of BFA crashed and burned… I don’t hold out a lot of hope.
Yes, it’s pretty clear they are being forced to release this by a certain date. Rather than releasing it when ready, they are basically just trying to get as much done as possible at this point before the forced release date.
Not necessarily. I don’t really care about whether you like the changes or not. I will say though that if you’re someone who is consistantly complaining about the system, instead of learning how to get used to it then, okay. Go ahead and leave. I know I’ll be enjoying Shadowlands. Looks pretty sick honestly. My entire discord group is pretty excited for it.
As well as most everyone I come across. Honestly it does make me feel better, and just shows me that the forums are just a bunch of whiners, which I kinda figured anyway since this has happened every expansion since BC, the WoW forums have always been toxic. People find something they don’t like and blow it out of proportions.
Ok, I’ll just get used to having to gimp 2 of my specs based on soulbinds and conduits, and gimp myself in 2 out of 3 types of content while I’m at it based on meaningful choice.
Is your discord group called Weekly No Leaver?
It’s not even close. WoD and MoP hold that title with over a year between last raid and new expansion.
Corruption: Total failure. Azerite Armour: Total Failure. Essences: Partial Success.
Shall I go on?
God forbid I like playing multiple roles that my class is designed to fill. How thoughtless of me.
This is the problem right here. You can say that people need to get used to it but you’re ignoring the core issues with the Covenant system. Based on this character, you don’t do content to a level where it would matter so of course you’re fine with it. But when it comes to a player who actually wants to push multiple avenues of the game then systems like this creates an unnecessary roadblock for them.
Seems like a you problem. I don’t really care. Suck it up buttercup and commit to a role.
Corruption was pretty fun, albiet without the RNG. Essences were cool, but not very alt friendly until later, otherwise they were alright. Azerite Armor only failed due to coming from artifact weapons, they felt like a replacement but without the things that set them a part. They didn’t offer a ton of variation and new abilities which woulda been cool. Otherwise, Azerite armor wasn’t the worst.
Not talking between patches. Talking about actual physical date.
Then. Leave. Literally all you have to do is leave. Stop complaining to those of us who’d like to enjoy the expansion, instead of putting your mouth where it need not belong.
The amount of system that need balancing is also the largest to date. By far. The data is there and the differences are massive. The worst thing about it is also not number tuning, because the abilities and passives aren’t like “this one does 3 damage, this one does 5 and that does 9”. Thy just work differently at a core level and affect each class/spec/role differently.
This notion that anybody but streamers/content creators are the only people capable of forming their own opinions and conclusions, and everybody who happens to share the same must be a mindless fanboy, is ridiculous and honestly, it’s getting old.
Imagine you have two hobbies, mountain biking and painting, and you’ve been doing both with little to no issues for as long as you can remember. But suddenly, you have to choose between either riding a rusty old bike and using all colors to paint with, or only using 3 colors to paint with and having a good quality bike, all because a group of people who don’t agree that you should be able to do both said so.
Look chuckles, just because you can barely manage to play DPS doesn’t mean that everyone is as limited as you. Not to mention certain fights needing different amounts of healers.
It also broke the game to the point where the highest dps of the lowest ranked class (sub rogue) is lower than the median dps of the highest class (fire mage). That is a total failure.
Which is why I said it was a partial success.
So a failure.
This might be the best description of the problem with covenants I’ve seen thus far.
Already been noted that other expansions has more preparation time, but regardless, my point is that there are currently various issues and actual glaring bugs that haven’t been resolved. When the release date was announced, it received shock from testers as they noted how much was still needed to be done. Now, instead of shock, there’s a general acceptance that many things will be left unresolved and Shadowlands will launch in a fairly unfinished state. In other words, the issue isn’t how much time they’ve had, but rather how much is left and the present state of the expansion. The amount of remaining time is insufficient for resolving all the issues, but it will be released any way and remaining issues will just have to be dealt with post-release. The meme “Beta for Azeroth” is going to be even more true of Shadowlands.

Stop telling people to get used to it and I’ll consider it. Also, never get into any kind of game development. Telling someone to leave just for giving feedback and calling it complaining is in my opinion an extremely weak counter to a legit issue.

Good thing that things don’t work like that in life.

Get used to it. With streamers becoming more and more popular it’s just going to happen more.

Wow you’ll are really emotionally charged lol

No. This game used to be one of the best, if not THE best game of all time. It could be again. The changes they need to make are obvious. I’m not going to be silent about that.
And I’m going to use my beta access to point out all the flaws in the system at every opportunity.

Sorry, but saying that as an aswer to an analogy is beyond stupid. Obviously it’s not the same thing, it’s an analogy. The principle is the same.

Hmmmm, good going so far though. Please tell me how that’s working out for you guys. I heard #Pulltheripcord movement is doing significantly well right now! Blizzard will definitely give in any day now. Ion hasn’t came out and said #Pulledtherug from under that movement yet… Surely he hasn’t.

About as well as Legion Legendaries, Azerite Armor and Corruptions…except the part where they all had to be changed because the initial launch of each of these were bad.

Like I said, when the only people excited about the new system are only excited because of the misery it will cause others, that should be a red flag.
I’m not talking about the people who are saying “It won’t be that bad.” I’m talking about turdheels like you who enjoy the misery of others.
