I was just thinking about how much time the current dev team has effectively forced players to play the game the way the developers think you should be playing.
The required grinds are clearly intended to artificially increase time played metrics across board, where players are pretty much required to do XYZ things they hate and don’t want to do. However, those forced grinds seem to be significantly worse for PvP players, where your actual game play loop (ie, preferred activity) provides almost no effective progression. This has lead me to play BfA significantly less than Legion where the ‘grindy bit’ for PvP was more or less limited to just one thing. Am I alone in wondering why they care more about artificially forced play time metrics than they do in giving people a reason to play at all?
During Legion I played thousands of battlegrounds, but in BfA it’s probably down to a couple hundred battlegrounds.
Is anyone actually playing more PvP in BfA than legion?
Fair point, I have played a lot of battlegrounds while leveling as well because it’s fun. I’ve leveled a couple alts for this reason alone, but it’s pretty sad that leveling new characters provides a more enjoyable PvP experience than playing at max level.
jokes on them.i played all my twinks in every bracket whenever i wanted in legion and not one ounce of effort at endgame or its pvp.
same with zero effort at 120 in bfa but all of the time spent in 110.
if i can get in 5 games a day i feel lucky but some days is zero wow. 161 honor level
I’ve barely PvPed in BFA at all. I did enough for glad in s1 with the new system but didn’t even bother doing it on more than one class. I haven’t really done rated since then and as far as unrated content it’s been very sporadic, with more being done early in the expansion than s3/s4 where I basically don’t even log on.
On the other hand I did quite a bit of rated PvP in Legion and branched out to try new classes in unrated content thanks to templates.
Like other said in this thread I did waaaay more in expansions previous to Legion. Cata, MoP and WoD was constant PvP anytime I got the chance. From arena to RBGs to randoms to even going out and finding wPvP. Everything about PvP just felt better. I don’t think I’ve done an RBG since WoD ended.
BFA is definitely the worst of it. It’s the first expansion I seriously considered unsubbing and would have if I didn’t already have gametime from tokens.
In Legion, I played multiple toons and pushed rating on multiple toons.
In BFA, I don’t even have one toon that would be considered “geared” for random bgs. Conquest gear is equivalent to honor gear in previous expansions. Fighting against high ilevel/corrupted PvEers reminds me of going against twinks in lower level bgs. This has been the worst expansion for PvP. Absolutely horrible.
I ended up PvP’ing more in this expansion but that’s largely a coincidence. I enjoyed BG’s a lot more in legion. World PvP on the other hand is a lot better now.
Yeah, it’s a little terrible for horde now that it isn’t considered current content. But that’s to do with with the communities on alliance side rather than anything specific to the expansion. Horde could organize the same way, we just don’t for some reason.
