I’m having trouble understanding your post, but let me say that I do appreciate your efforts in trying to build an analogy here to make it more understandable
While I don’t understand the bucket thing, it sounds like how things used to work with ranking points. I thought that was all done away with. When I read over this post linked above, it seems to suggest that you just acquire honour now and it doesn’t decay. Combine that with their previous post on the topic, each rank now has an amount of honour required to progress to the next rank. I know the amount of ranks you can progress through in a week is still limted, but that’s not really what we’re talking about here.
So I don’t quite get these buckets… I thought that was all done away with now and you just fill up honour until you have enough to roll over to the next rank in the next week.
Anyway, like I said, I appreciate your post, I’m just not understanding it. I can do some more research here to see if I can sort it out. With that said though, I don’t have much of a horse in this race. I don’t want to do this, I just saw an opportunity for some science and was overwhelmed with curiosity!
No worries. Last comment ill make on it… here is the weakaura calculator, i share this so you can see the images in the link and get an idea of what I mean by “bucket”.
Delete the space it will work wago. io/CjgnHSx05
The bar in the image that says (383123/500000) is how much honor that person has gained that week, 500k being the cap.
Youll see that red line above the world “field”? that is their first bucket. They have to clear that red line in order to gain a single point of CP. So, they need idk, 325k or so just to gain any kind of rank at rank 13.
You don’t gain rank from honor, you gain rank from CP (Contribution Points). CP is handed out by “buckets”, and the amount of honor you get determines what bucket of CP you are awarded. An example of this is that 420K Honor awards the same CP as 480K Honor, because both of those are in the same bucket.
Edit: Something else to note is that depending on your rank, you are required to reach a certain bucket before you can even get CP towards your next rank.
Ok, I think I understand, and can see from the visualization in the WA. I guess my only question at this point is… is this still relevant? I notice the WA was last updated mid-September, prior to Blizzard making changes. It’s representative of how the OG ranking system works.
Is that still the case?
Oh, does it just not permit you to post the link in code blocks?
They probably wont updated the WA until next week.
If you want to track when stuff gets updated, you can join this disc. These are the guys who makes the Classic Era ranking WA, addons, and websites.
AFAIK yes this is still relevant. The only thing they have changed is ending up in that first bucket wont set you back. You simply stay the exact same.
