How long does it take you to learn a new class? I just made a rogue 2 days ago and have been doing some skirmishes while leveling and I have been feeling like I’ve been tunneling alot. I normally don’t tunnel much on my main.
Watch some high level footage on YouTube to get an understanding
Oh I’ve been playing arena for years and k ow what rogues should do. Im just tunneling so much because I’m still learning my keybinds. Just wondering how long it normally takes people. Rogue is fun
I noticed a lot of abilities are identical or similar function especially if you use the same key bind layout on all toons. Maybe make it familiar to your mains format and you will know which to press and when?
like few weeks. most classes are exactly the same except for a few buttons. Like I always have my stun on E, purge Sh-2 mobility on S, damage rotation on 1-6 kick on 8 etc. I transfer that across all toons and it’s not bad at all picking up chars, just learning the actual rotation depending on spec usually takes me the time
Depends on the class. Is it melee? Rock on, by installing the game you’re already glad material! Congratulations for rising to the top of the sewage!
Depends on you mainly with a few variables based on class/spec.
How adaptive and how well do you learn things. Fast/slow?
How well do you already know the class you are trying to learn? (IE by fighting them, watching videos.etc.)
Is this a a caster / melee / healer? It’s harder to learn something you might not be used to doing such as going from a melee to a caster and vice versa.
Some folks can pick almost any class and do well fast on them just like everything in the world where others have a longer learning curve including some of the reasons (and not limited to) that I listed.
1000 games ? everyone is different but 1000 games in a season should make you more than proficient at a spec
500-1k games where things begin to be automatic/innate.
It doesn’t take long to learn fundamentals, but the longest part is where you can do optimal dps without thinking about it.
Many thousand games and tons of time between games thinking about how you can improve to master.
Played rogue to 2550 in MOP.
Came back as a warrior for SLands
Took me 1000 games to get near the same rating
I’d say like a day or two of queing but I’ve played every class
Varries on class for sure. Took me no time at all to learn mage/hunter/lock
My rsham and rdruid took a while and Unholy dk I’ve been playing all expac and still learning
You want to get the feel for rogue and how it plays, play assassination. You want to increase you skill at rogue, play sub.
Any class will take a while to get decent at, there are numerous factors.
-
Your damage rotations becoming second nature so you dont have to think about it.
-
Your burst rotations becoming second nature so you dont have to think about it.
-
Knowing what defensive to use in what situation, so you arent wasting multiple when one would do, or using a defensive when you didnt need to at all.
-
getting comfortable with where your abilities are bound so you arent fumbling keybinds when it matters.
Rogue spacifically when I played one in BFA was getting comfortable with focus macros. Focus step into focus sap/kick/blind/kidney etc.
Rogues probably have the most impactful focus macros in the game, and also some of the hardest to pull off.
If you stay within the same role/playstyle prolly a few weeks, if you change role entirely, months.
I’m going from years of mage experience and alittle DH to rogue. Feels so different. Lol I blinded someone the other day and had to sprint half across the map to sap out of the blind and it felt so hard just to something simple. Hoping to get better in the next few weeks.
