How long are we going to argue over Msv and Rsv

Most likely explanation is they get so many complaints about every class that rather then taking feed back and tweaking what worked and making minor changes in a cohesive direction with openly stated goals of “this is where we want to go with class/spec” they throw the baby out with the bath water and start over from scratch trying to reinvent the wheel.

Seriously. Like if you take a step back and look at it… why is Blizzard still on the fence about how they want to design a spec/class after fifteen years? Why does it seem that with every new xpac they have to redo talents? It’s completely ridiculous. There is no class/spec progression because Blizzard keeps changing the things that already were instead of just introducing new things. I get minor tweaks, but they are straight up deleting old abilities and talents by the boatload. That is not a healthy system for a long term MMO, and they should have learned that after fifteen years of doing it.

You know that in Blizzard’s eyes they considered it an ‘attempt’ to bring ranged SV to MM by adding in Black Arrow minus LnL plus random summoned creature, and by adding the nonsense Explosive Shot skill shot crap.

That sounds more like Blizzard did a poor job implementing Surv mechanics into MM. Did Black Arrow do anything for any of the main skills MM used? Because the easiest thing you could implement via a DoT ability would be for ticks to have a chance to reset a cooldown or empower a specific shot (if you want to go super crazy, have the procs make Aimed Shot instant and/or cost no focus).

Same goes for Hunters. Just because you aren’t creative enough to imagine how it would be done doesn’t mean that it can’t be done.

This is admittedly very tricky. We’d need to come up with a class that can use ranged weapons but does something else in addition to it. At the risk of bringing up the Tinker class some people want, you could have them use guns and crossbows and specialize in bullets/bolts that have secondary effects. Like a bullet/bolt that creates a small lightning zone that deals damage. At that point they’d be less about finesse with ranged weapons like hunters, but instead using the guns/crossbows as a means to deploy some of their inventions.

Well ya, you could also delete Arcane and apply its fantasy to Fire by just copy pasting all of Arcane’s baseline abilities/passives into the Fire talent tree

Arcane is an odd example, since the burn and regen phases could be applied to fire (though it’d also require several changes and overhauls to make it work). I imagine it’d end up playing like FFXIV’s Black Mage (ramp up mechanic and dealing full damage during burn phase, deal less damage during regen phase; Fire’s Hot Streak & Pyroblast mechanic already bears similarities to BLM’s Firestarter procs & Fire III, so…).

For MM in Legion, Black Arrow had no interaction with anything, by default.

It was just a press-on-cd DoT which you could use to gain a temporary tank for solo content, if you did not want to opt out of the Lone Wolf talent that is.

Essentially, they basically added elements to BA which made it fit the DK theme more than the Hunter theme. A Hunter summoning dead boars? Not really fitting if you ask me.

In short, the things that made Black Arrow iconic for RSV, were taken away. The only thing left was the name along with it still being a shadow-based DoT.

For a ranged class that relies on weapons, I would argue that the best thing they could do for a new addition, would be to make one that mixes the use of ranged weapons together with various magical infusions. And more ofc.

We’ve over the years seen numerous suggestions/requests for anything from Dark Ranger-inspired classes to something more along the lines of Dragonsworn Archers(rangers/archers that rely much on frost/arcane or even fire-magic, with a fantasy/theme surrounding Dragon aspects).

Basically, leave the more physical elements of ranged combat incl the reliance on regular fire/poison/venom and such to the Hunter class. Allow for it to balance the most basic concept of a theme surrounding perfect aim(sharpshooting), in contrast to what we saw with old RSV, which held a focus on the theme of enhancing ammunition/arrows and traps.

And then, add a class which blends the theme of ranged weapons together with magic. Not just a select few abilities, but actually having magic as a foundation towards how they utilize their use of ranged weapons.

It’s difficult to not get negative about this…it is also really hard to let someone badmouth your favorite. My only solution was to literally come here less.

I’ve had enough disrespect from Blizzard over this issue, but i recognize it’s not the fault of players…no matter what their stance might be.

Every survival hunter I knew Hates it. I haven’t played my hunter in 4 years or more. I’ve seen, in game, 1 in pve mythic play.

That’s what the separate Lock and Load talent does: it affects aimed shot. Which isn’t anywhere near what it used to do when it affected Explosive Shot. In terms of the feel and the fantasy it is completely different. I don’t want SV talents that are really just MM talents. Ok, well, I don’t want SV talents taking up space in MM’s talent tree at all. I want ranged SV brought back as a fourth spec with its own talent tree. But you get the idea.

A tinker class could easily be done. Make the specs something like Robotics, Anti-Personnel and Upgrade. They attack with ranged weapons just like Hunters. Robotics would be about constructing robots and things like auto-turrets and attack robots (most similar in playstyle to demonology with how its summoning a bunch of demons). Anti-personnel would be gadgets and explosives that could have varying cast times (including instants) that target specific enemies or groups of enemies to deal damage or effects. Upgrade would enhance the abilities and damage of the player, granting bonuses to their auto-shots, stats, defenses, etc…

Something unique to their class would be that almost all of their spells and abilities would need to be ‘constructed’ (via cast times) before use, but after construction many of them would be instant casts. Some more rotational abilities could have quick ‘construction’ times, while other more powerful abilities could have construction times of up to 6 or even 10 seconds. This also would make Tinkers unique in that they would thrive in raid encounters that have DPS downtime, where they can construct their abilities (essentially gaining DPS) while everyone else is just standing around, and would have strong openings from constructing their abilities before combat.

Er, well, tangent, but I think that is how they could work, and as you can see they would be very different from Hunter even though their use of ranged weapons makes perfect sense and fits their playstyle very well. People seem to forget that you can give a class a ranged weapon without focusing a lot on it like Hunters do. Enhancement uses a lot of spells separate from the melee weapons, as does Retribution and Frost. It really isn’t that difficult to come up with these sorts of new concepts if you just think about it for a few minutes. Again, Blizzard is just lazy.

It’s shocking that the very people this post was aimed at came in and started arguing again…

Don’t care. Hunters lost a third of their class, and more if you consider the butchering of MM and BM. We are completely justified, and if people get tired of this completely justified position then they don’t have to keep paying so much attention to it.

Actually, it’s more for people to discuss the class. You quit for three years and suddenly have spent the last few weeks literally arguing with anyone who has a different opinion from your own.

Ironically, I didn’t actually identify who I was talking about in my post, and yet you responded. If the shoe fits as they say…

In what way is discussing Survival not discussing the class exactly?

Ah, clever girl. Making (or borrowing) a new account so that your achievement points don’t align with those of your old accounts, and of course playing it safe by going out of your way to hide your public profile before posting (which is something nobody would do unless they were trying to conceal who they are). Unfortunately you gave yourself away; mentioning how long my break was as well as how long I’ve been posting for recently. Next time don’t make it so obvious.

Best part is that now you’ll try to play it off as if you aren’t actually Darkeforge. Gotta hand it to you though; you’re really putting effort into your hypocrisy. Say stupid things and get called on it, so you just change accounts to continue saying stupid things because everyone knew your old account was just a troll.

And all hunters I play / know have mostly gona Survival nowadays. The experience will differ from one individual to another.

He plays classic anyway.

Ah, so I guess this is US version of it. We mostly say if the hat fits here.

And I await the day where I start playing retail again. Unfortunately in its current state it is not worth the money. Glad that Classic exists though; that way I can play it while still posting on these forums about things that could help to improve retail to make it playable again.

Apparently you have a problem with that though. Weird. A person can’t make suggestions to improve a game even if they don’t actively play it?

Ya I definitely believe you when you say that. /s

I’ve ignored him at this point. I don’t post much, but this guy does nothing but whine and cry.

Ignore me but still making sure to respond to all of my posts for the exclusive purpose of insulting me and not contributing to the discussion. You still haven’t even explained your position in all this. You are opposed to bringing back ranged SV why?

Would be fun to have a ignore function on forums.

But I understand, at this point he is only here to troll / trigger others by ignoring all.

I don’t ignore you. I continually ask for your input as to why it would be bad to return ranged SV as a fourth spec. You just never give it, and all of your posts are filled with derision. That’s why virtually everyone on these forums are opposed to you.

Yea I’ve seen the representation numbers for pve and pvp. Can’t believe you there.

Point stands though. It’s a mostly hated spec that replaced something people enjoyed. So now, it will be requested back, until, either the game ends or results happen

Congratz, you’ve looked at the stats where the top players are shown only. Those that does the high content, those that nearly always pick the most optimized spec/class for DPS… careless if spec is fun or not, those that represent but a small portion of the game.

Not matter what xpac, you’ll always a class/spec more represented than others in those numbers.

Mostly loved as well. Replaced by something people love to play. The change made some happy and made others mad. Just like any change the game does.

You dont like it, thats fine. But you cannot assume that “most” hate it, can only talk for yourself. Dont base judgement on hand picked data. Nor any that isn’t valid.

I for one really enjoy melee survival. I think it gives it a much more defined identity than hunter just having 3 specs that essentially all do the same thing.
