What will the economy look like in Cata? I know it’s been said it’s the bridge between Classic and Retail. I never played Cata so I was wondering.
I know things like WoW Tokens, Bots, GDKPs and other things interfere with the game’s natural economy. But are professions useful for gold making in Cata? Or does Blizz just hand things out in this expansion? I remember that they added something in Wrath that wasn’t originally in the expansion. They added “Northrend Adventurers Supplies” which were quest rewards that gave an insane amount of materials from every profession - such that - by the time that you leveled 70 to 80, you had literally everything you needed to raid and do other things for at least a couple phases. And if you didn’t, what you didn’t have was cheap as dirt on the AH because it was oversaturated. It was so bad and they had single handedly destroyed alchemy and cooking, that they eventually cut back on the amount of mats given and frequency of it being a quest reward. But by that time, the damage was done (as is normally the case). Do you think they will do something like that again? Are we all convinced that everyone wants something for nothing in their games as much as Blizzard is convinced?
I know some players like this. I know some players would prefer it not be an RPG game and log in like an action arcade game and go straight to whatever activity they liked the most. But as someone who like making gold by use of professions and somewhat earning my way through the game via the rpg elements of the game, whether for PVE participation or PVP enchants, gear, etc, I was wondering if professions are going to be a gold maker or is everything handed out in Cata?
