They call it a redistribution but it comes up short, how is a mid spec being nerfed? The math isn’t adding up, if you want to nerf Empyrean Hammer that’s fine, but make sure you adjust accordingly, 5% isn’t enough. HELP!

List of opinions:
-Empyrean Hammers (should/shouldn’ t) be so much or Rets damage profile.
-Ret (should/shouldn’t) do as much damage as they do [insert tag along opinion statement about how easy/hard the rotation is to play]
-Paladins have a tank/dps/heal spec, therefore the dps spec should be (more important/less important) that it stays viable.
Just getting those out of they way first. Everyone has an opinion and they are just not usually worth discussing on the forums (<- Hey look! Another opinion)
However, the fact of this topic is:
“If Blizz intends this to be a reshuffle rather than a nerf or buff, does 5% damage to other abilities make up for the hammers nerf?”
Currently, I’m not confident that Blizz did thier math right, but I am also not confident that Blizz cares enough to double check.
I guess we’ll wait until sim chefs and class writers inform blizz that this is in fact a nerf/buff.

Even when Ret is near the bottom of the charts people still cry its OP lol. I’m sorry you guys committed to a manfight when a Ret paladin had Wings + Bubble active in Wrath but it’s time to let go of the past and your hurt feelings

Wouldn’t the 5% buff also buff the other hero spec? According to the guides they are fairly close in damage, and this change would make them even closer?

I’ve heard rumblings of this as well.
Its possible Herald will become the better hero talent after this change damage wise.
Neither tree really offers any powerful utility options that Ret doesnt already have as Paladin, so damage○ seems to be the only determining factor about which hero spec gets played.
○ (and yknow, gameplay feel - but who cares about that)

I honestly haven’t played Herald, and I kinda like the hammer as its adds a button with oomph… But who knows, having the choice is good.
I did not mean to imply the hero trees would be closer to parity. There will always be one that does more raw damage on average. That tree will be played by 95%+ of Rets.
The trees currently do not have significant non-damage bonuses to make the decision anything other than “which does the most damage?”

This was in general, not necessarily right at this exact moment. Right now it’s fine and does middle DPS.
People started crying about Ret in TBC and have never stopped

Add that 5% to herald of the sun which received no nerf. Will be an overall buff that way.

Ret had it’s 5 minutes in the sun. Time for someone else now. Feral gets to be the new ret and enjoy being wanted / played as much, when?

What are you even talking about? Ret is definitely not in the top DPS right now, it’s very mid, it also still probably the spec that’s spent the most time below average, but this may have changed with DF.
Would you like it if Feral got nerfed right now even though it’s not even close to being top DPS, maybe think a little before you write a post.
You’ll be fine. Stop jumping to conclusion. At the end of the day you’re a mid range class just like evokers.
Jumping to conclusions? It’s math, it’s a fact, they didn’t provide a big enough buff to compensate for the Empyrean Hammer nerf. A class in the middle of the pack should not be getting nerfed.
