All I know is if they do they had better be refunding everyone for heirlooms because I didn’t buy those for nothing
The problem is that - since Ion said the squish might accompany a speed up - is that old content would be out leveled by newer players too quickly - imagine jumping from mid-EK questing into 1 zone of BC then and zone and 1/2 of MoP and a zone each in WoD, Legion, etc.,
For you vets I’m sure that’s a dream - for someone like me who’s been around 18 months the speed is already too fast - there is no consistency in the story.
Not for or against a squish - but how do you do it and still allow for a new player - or just a player that likes story progression - to have the space to do that?
I don’t think level locking should be the best answer - right now it’s the only one.
Do you know, even to this day, I still haven’t even fully seen entire zones worth of content. For example, I still haven’t quested in Shadowmoon Valley and/or Netherstorm for BC and the funny part is I was there for the release of BC.
I also haven’t done some of Cata’s changes for Vanilla zones like Winterspring etc. I haven’t done Storm Peaks for WoTLK and so on.
One day I will do Loremaster I promise, but what a perfect opportunity to level a character. The only problem it’s tedious. I might actually read the quest text this time and get involved which might make it more interesting lol.
How is leveling broken? Have you played, oh I dunno… any other MMORPG, ever?
The argument is that leveling is broken because new players are stupid and find 120 to be a big, scary number. New players only care about big, scary numbers and not at all about any other issues in questing.
Pretty sure Ion has this ready to put up on the PTR. I can tell by the sudden wave of previously unknown posters who are supporting it and telling us about all the wonders it will work. There will be thousands of bug reports. None will be fixed, and it will be implemented as is.
It’s going to break the game. We’re going to hate it when we find out what it actually is. They’re going to use it as an excuse to remove lots of old content from the game, which would be inconvenient when they port the game to mobile.
Progression mostly.
Previous incarnations of WoW, you always got something for each level. Even if it was a minor 1% stat increase, you got a point to add to your characters strength. It was a RPG.
Now in the current version of WoW everything is streamlined and set, you get some abilities 2, 4, 10 levels apart, and a lot of levels you get nothing.
You get nothing for leveling up, other than another bar to fill.
At least that’s just how I see it, and how I think they see it.
Can we get you a tinfoil hat or a subscription to the alex jones newsletter?
‘‘Oh look that game has something I like, every game that is related in a bit to its genre should be the same just cuz I like that part.’’
I think an easy fix to leveling would be to add more talants, especially ones we lost with our artifact weapon that we’re not getting back easily from azerite gear. It would give leveling some meaning again. Right now it’s just a benchmark to hit. When I level on alts in BfA I don’t feel anything until I get to 120 and start on world quests. Or I feel sad when I hit 116 and lose out on the legion legendaries. I never thought I’d miss them until azerite gear came out.
Actually you’re right. This game isn’t a MMORPG anymore. Also if by “something I like” is an enjoyable leveling experience, then guilty as charged.
Hmmm is it Massively played by multiple people? Yes
Is it about getting into a Class/Role/Race? Yes.
Is it a game? It surely is.
I don’t know, it looks like an MMORPG to me
The fact that classes don’t learn any abilities past 80 for the most part and don’t get a talent point at all for the last 20 levels is just the start of why leveling is broken.
If they squished it down to say 60 or 70 levels we would be getting talents & abilities more often, we could learn riding skills in between, we would have more variety in zones we can level in as well. The list goes on and on.
The level bloat is out of control when you get nothing new past 80, it just feels bad.
Disagree with this entirely. It’s about grinding for marginally better stats. All the classes basically play the same with little to no customization. More in common with Diablo than a MMORPG.
If you’re into THAT aspect of the game.
As a Mythic+ runner and Mythic Raider myself I do it for that reason… .with my main Shaman at least. With others like my priest or mage I love it because of the lore behind it. It all depends on the individual and you’re making it look like everyone is mindelssly grinding 415 gear
It is a watered down version of all those things, yes.
Which is the problem.
Played by Multiple People, but with many incentives and options to play alone.
Getting into a Class and Role, but each class has been homogenized so far they’ve lost most of their unique role to a group.
Is it a game? Obviously.
If you say so. It’s clearly the crowd the game caters to, though.
That’s another topic to discuss tho, has nothing to do with leveling.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I feel my Arcane Mage completely different to my Elemental shaman.
I giggled when he replied to that question.
If it was much faster it wouldn’t be so much of an issue, but they broke it sometime back because it was too fast.
Different to play, sure.
But note how they both have a Bloodlust.
Originally Shaman was the only one, Shamans were unique to that role, you’d bring a Shaman for the lust, it added to the uniqueness of your Class and it gave you more purpose beyond Ranged DPS.
Maybe that’s a non issue to you, but I personally prefer when Classes bring unique abilities that no other class can.
Like how Druids use to be the only ones who could res in battle.
You can say that if you like. Or if you need to. But you’ll be wrong and in the end, I’ll be right.
