I was leveling up my Warrior and an Ele sham also for end game PvP but found out that Ele requires little to no PvE gear while Warrior is pretty PvE gear dependent to really shine.
Classic is a very toxic cesspool of 30+ year olds who gatekeep old content and many, MANY people are going plate classes so I highly doubt i’ll ever be able to get any of the actual good pieces unless I pay an arm and a leg to GDKP as most guilds have those roles on lock from TBC.
Considering how bad PvE gatekeeping is on Classic, is it better to go a caster like Ele or does it not matter that much and Arms would still be the overall best pick?
Depends on the class. I can’t confirm but I hear for the first season or two warrior and dk can do perfectly fine in pure pvp gear but would do a bit better with some pve slots. That changes as we get more armor pen and then you need pve gear.
Other classes such as rogue and mage need a bunch of pve gear right off the bat and there’s no real choice
The good thing is the first tier is apparently SUPER easy and you should not have a hard time clearing the content if you care to do it
Yeah that’s what I figured, i’m thinking long term I might as well stick with Ele too. I know Ele pops off Tier 1 and falls off past that but if I REALLY wanted to PvE after i’ll just bring my hunter alt up to 80 with heirlooms and play him or something.
What server is your ele on? This early in the game it should be easy to find a guild no matter the class, especially if you are willing to flex later on like you said
I’m on Grobb on the ele, I found a guild willing to take my ele for 25 man throughout the xpac so i’m solid there.
I just figured i’d get bored of raiding on my ele if i’m just like a support bot spamming the same 3 or 4 buttons haha.
That’s why eventually I might just make an alt to PvE with once Ele falls off, I tried Ele and some other specs out on Warmane and Ele was the most fun I ever had.
I legit tried like 5 specs and Ele was constantly top DPS in BGs and I was winning a lot of solo queue arenas in the opener with Bloodlust and full combo.
If you consistently raid with them and they aren’t trying to speed run the raids and compete for time there isn’t much reason for them to not take you on your ele through icc as long as you are consistent
Trinkets which are BiS for rogues and other melee as well, rings, neck, back and I think some warriors even run a couple off pieces along with the weapon you mentioned which every other melee also wants.
If the massive DK bot army is indicative of anything then there will be mass RMT in a larger scale than TBC and more GDKPs than ever to start selling off those items.
Also not playing as a Human warrior will hurt you as double DPS trinket is insane value even before ICC.
Right now in Naxx tier alone Human Melee classes can use Mirror of Truth + Anvil and get almost a 2k AP + big crit advantage over non human warriors not to mention the Resil boost too.
Most will stack Greatness deck + Anvil and that’s an even crazier combo, Greatness + Mirror is also insane.
Me and my friend joined a pretty chill raiding guild full of dads and we one shot every raid I’m already half bis after 1 week I think you are just exaggerating
Pve gear isn’t super critical until second half of wrath anyways
Lmao yeah ofc it’s Naxx, gear is raining from the sky.
If you want a reality check go make a fresh 80 on WM, you start with BiS P1/P2 gear and go queue arenas or BGs with and watch how you get melted by people with a season or two above gear than you, then go inspect them and see how half their gear is PvE.
Once Ulduar comes out, those dad guilds won’t invite you anymore and pugs will start needing your gear score and if you’re not willing to full time job a raid team to get geared or buy gold to GDKP you’re basically gonna get out classed by people who have more time than you because the stat difference will become overwhelming.
Lmao 4 hrs a week in some dad guild is not going to get you anything, again it’s Naxx you can probably spend 2 hours a week and still progress but eventually Wrath will become sweaty and everyone will want to see your gear score to get into anything meaning you’re gonna have to grind a lot more than 4 hours to even see invites to places.
Just look at TBC, they wouldn’t even take people to Hyjal one of the most brainless raids unless you had like full tier form the raid before.
This is why lots of PvP players RMT for gold and do GDKPs, the PvE scene for Classic will always turn into gatekeeping.
Ok if you raid 8 hours a week in a non dad guild it still isn’t a full time job
Or farm 10k gold per week then go do gdkp at the end of the week and get 1-2 piece of gear a week most pvp arena bis lists don’t have more then 6 pieces of pve gear so if you do this strat you would be fully bis geared in 6 weeks.
Might have to go sweatlord mode for shadowmourne or healing legendary tho
I get where you’re coming from bro but I have played WM before and they have a 1x Blizzard like server too, it has a similar pop to a mega server on Classic and one of the most biggest topics is how gear score has ruined the raiding scene.
As the expansion progresses, even when it’s easy brainless content that’s been solved people straight up won’t even invite you to pugs unless you fit a certain meta or tier list and have gear and logs on top of that.
Don’t get me wrong, you can just casually join some dad guild and do it but you and I both know those guilds don’t last and they always end over some BS. Eventually the good players leave because they want a more hardcore environment and it’ll just kill the raid.
You also said how you can raid 8 hours a week but you also want to grind 10k gold, you can’t do both and also want to PvP because you’ll basically just be doing things you don’t even enjoy doing for the sake of pvping which is my whole point to begin with.
Wrath was when they were still figuring out how to itemize PvP gear and PvE gear and they failed in a lot of ways to do it, what I’m describing is the eventual reality of the game.
Idk what you’re so mad about lol, the post is about PvE gearing playing a big role in PvP in Wrath which is true and I played WM enough to share my experiences with how that culture is going to basically be the same as Classic as it has been that way from Vanilla to TBC.
You picked out some random quote and started malding.
