From what I remember, it was pretty brutal in Vanilla but we didn’t really have youtube videos or much in the way of addons. Will today’s Mythic raiders just blow through it ? Will Heroic raiders just blow through it ? I remember a lot of guilds not being able to get past the 2nd boss .
I imagine it wont be as difficult as it was for the first people to ever do them but the mechanics were designed to wreck you and for people to die during the fight. Sometimes winning just came down to a mix of skill and RNG on who got targeted with what.
Once they gear check? Yeah absolutely. I think the Razor is going to be much harder than Vael in 2019. Specifically for people who PvE and Progress raid, I don’t think anyone’s coming into BWL unprepared.
I don’t think Vael will be a mythic guild breaker. But I do think Razorgore is a style of fight people from modern wow might not be used to. I’m excited to see how people manage their kiting groops and flex groups and corner rotations.
By today’s standards, Vales mechanics are pretty simple and forgiving, assuming the group is learned. So in 2019, I don’t see him being much of an issue. Don’t blow up your group. If anything vael’s just going to be a tank and healer check. I think DPS rotations should be ironed out smoothly by then with our information savvy 2019 players.
My favourite memory of BWL was my brothers guilds MT actually blocking us from progressing. He was a gnome so he coudln’t tank ? Ebonroc? Idr which dragon is which, but you tanked him behind the ramp. And our MT being a gnome, LoS’d our healers when he stood there. Because the ramp was taller than him.
IIRC it got patched, but not before the guild disband. Lol.
I don’t know Blackwing came out in July of 05 just 8 months after launch and a lot of people took 2-3 months to hit 60 and then there was attunement and grinding before you could even get into MC.
From what I have heard told, part of the reason Blackwing Lair was so difficult is because it came out long before most people had even farmed Molten Core and guilds were attempting it before they had fully farmed T1.
Blackwing is set to be a part of the Phase 3 “content bucket”. They have not said when that will be, yet. It could end up being far easier just because people will probably be better geared by the time it comes out than they were when it came out in vanilla.
There were plenty of guilds that were ready for it when it finally as released. Mine had rag down for only a few weeks when it became available. We kept farming MC while we were progressing in BWL but that was only to make the fights as easy as possible. We likely could’ve done without but I digress. Razorgore, but more in particular, Vaelastrasz, were very difficult. As already mentioned those bosses killed guilds that had otherwise cleared MC due to difficulty.
Just as an indication of how tough Vaelastrasz was… Even after we had BWL on farm there were still instances where a swapped out raider would make a tiny mistake or we’d just get unlucky and he’d wipe us. Even when TBC came out he was still wiping raids of geared level 70 players…
BWL got a lot easier after the first two bosses and it was largely smooth sailing until you got to Chromaggus and Nefarian.
Vaelastrasz ,the fire damage was a nightmare ,you have 15sec,to down him or the corruption will wipe you out due to burning adrenaline ,yet there would be always one that would bite the dust no matter if you do.We always made a bet who would be the one person to be killed by him.
Chromaggus, you had to collect the hour glass sand to counter the bronze dragon affect, and on the way kill the spiders for the immature venom sacs to counter the poison from the green dragon affect. If you don’t cleanse you will die fast.
At 110-120 you wouldn’t have a problem but at 60 it’s a pain.
Second, anyone who legitimately believes retail mythic raiders won’t blow through classic raids are adorable. It will take longer to level than it will to clear the raids.
As I remember, to do Black Wing Lair, the raiders needed a lot of FIRE RESISTANCE. So, they needed to farm Molten Core gears first before they could attempt the black Wing Lair.
Same thing with Onyxia. On the 2nd phase Onyxia was in mid air and sometimes casted AOE fire attack on everyone in the room and those with Low HP and no Fire resistance was one-shotted.
Elixir of Fire resistance was mandatory.
Probably as difficult as it is for some people to make these classic posts in the correct section of the forum.
You have all kinds of people who played classic that post there and do not post in general discussion, you would get far better information on this if you really just posted there.
