So why does mage have 5 blinks again?
2 shimmer, alter, alter reset, displacement?
And they give movement speed?
Is that not a bit excessive?

Mage is and always has been the only hero class WoW has had.
That being said, a lot of movement on a mage is necessary because we can get killed pretty quickly.

If a good Fury connects the Mage is in the graveyard, if I’m 60 yards from the mage for maybe 10 seconds it would die without Alter and Iceblock. Mage is a mobility master so it has a chance to not be a skid mark on the battlefield.

In a BG setting a Fury trying to hit a mage for 30 seconds uses up all the mages mobility. If thats when I attack the mage it is gg, they cant out range me and the Fury may get to hulk smash the mage while it sits in one of my 4 CCs.
Its a team game, someone also could intervene and successfully save the mage, there are no absolutes.
A good Fury warrior uses its nuke that kills someone in 1.8 seconds when the target cannot escape for that time. The Fury warriors teammates can help the vulnerability window exist on a target so the Warrior gets to hulk smash.
Just turn around and kill the fury warrior? If a fury is lasting 30 seconds against you in 1v1 setting its the mage just not pressing orb or ice lances, then you finally run out of mobility then press a bunch of other cds like alter / block / invis / images.
Bgs are not a 1vs1, the healer could be healing the Warrior, a friendly neighborhood Paladin might put Blessing of Spellwarding and Sac the Warrior. If Fury is enabled by their teammates it is god tier, they are out here hitting like a current content raid boss and mage is no tank.
A r1 warrior would be unable to connect to a rival mage
What if the R1 Fury has Blessing of Freedom and a cacoon shield bigger than a small town. If the mage gets a ranged stun or for some other reason gets slowed down enough for the Fury to touch him he dies. There are too many variables in team combat to say for BGs that Fury always dies if a mage hits him.
Mage can remove freedom lmao. A mage literally has to unplug his keyboard to die to a warrior
Imagine now you also have a freedom and a huge cocoon bigger then a small town now the mage wins again. I really can’t believe your complaining about frost mage instead of complaining about being outnumbered, no class would win that, but mage is the best to try to.
If it isnt stunned, sure. If an evoker rescues the Warrior to the mage or a priest grips the warrior to the mage, or the mage gets DK gripped to both a DK and the Fury…there is nothing to spellsteal. There are millions of scenarios where the mage dies or doesnt. Its not a 1vs1 game.
All these scenarios are 2v1s which is crazy your still talking about this, your the only class that can actually win 2v1s fairly easy because of the amount of damage you do and the amount of mobility you have, you can end games quick enough that a single cs or poly can kill someone.
All the other classes with similar tools do half your damage and are either casted or full melee.
