Like the title saids, does anyone know how reporting works?
Me and my friends have a bit on an Issue with our friends who… um… lost his account way back in the day and was given a link account… to play. However we notice he had his account back like 2 years prior… so we been told our friend that he should return to his account, but… anyway he refuses “because he won’t lost all the transmog and achievement”.
We haven’t hear of the generous owner for some time now… and we worry that his account might get in trouble because our “friend” has literally take the link account as his own… (not really sure how that works)
Point is I found out that he should not be doing that… as last effort I try to report the incident… but he is still playing it.
So my question is:
- Is he (The friends who borrow the link account) really entitle to keep using that account as his own after the owners inactivity since he has paid for sub, transmog and other stuff like he told us when we confronted him about it? (The owner is a really nice guy that’s why we worry even when his inactive, to share his account so we could play together the dude was gold, I hope he comes back)
- Maybe when support told me I was not suppose to do that, (I was going to link my account with my brother but ask support first if this was ok, just to be sure since our friend kept promoting it as the best way to play sharing achievements and transmogs)
So maybe I’m wrong and its not a big deal, to report it… we haven’t gotten hold of the owner so we try to talk and persuade him to stop only to be disregarded and mock that Blizz won’t do anything?
Anyway I already reported it a few times recently, so I don’t plan to keep at it, I guess its the owners responsibility like my other friends says, but the mischievous friend keeps playing… and me and my friends feel a bit uncomfortable at this point… seeing the name of the owner, yet is not him…etc. My brother even stop playing with him unless the rest of us are in the group… it’s gotten that tense between the group of friends.
But then I read people get lock and or ban for mass reporting (who would want to do that, insist one of few reports enough to determine if a ban is applicable?!)… I get confuse and wonder how reports are work. Are they worked individually, automated…??
I just really want to know if it’s even worth taking the time to report stuff like this, for future or even if it’s ok to do so, not really comfortable doing this… but it’s gotten a bit tense in our group of friends. I’m not even sure if I done the right thing at this point I’m not in the habit of reporting anything in any game… but then again it’s the first time we have this issue… and it’s been at it for a while now.
Anyway thank for taking the time to read also apologies if this is extra work it’s NOT my intention to affect the normal flow of work with reporting or moderation. I just genuinely want to know for future situation… not sure our group situation can be salvage with our mischievous friend. lol
UPDATE for does who were interested and help me:
After I posted this our friend continue normally for some time using the Owner account, then he went silent and move to Classic for some time now… I by chance find out that the owner is aware of this and was playing classic too. We talk and apparently this is normal… Found out that this is not their first time doing this… I found out that the friend who has been using the owners account sold his account in the past and this is why they started using this weird account sharing… I suspect he can’t get his account back…
To sum it up the owner and my friend using his account; this is how they play with a group of some other shady players… I was like: “OK…um, Im done I sooo going to move away from this shady stuff ASAP!!!”

I finally understood that this was a common practice apparently and that probably a few players have been doing this. This is no surprise because EVERY time someone join we had to explain why this person in group was using another name in their account or how were they using the same account… so it kind of got promoted indirectly (I think), even thought a few of us did told them it was against the ToS.
So, I follow the advise and sadly did what Leilleath mention I should do… I got my reply form a GM he thank me for waiting on since apparently they have been a LOT of work and told me they look into it but will not know the conclusion as expected of course and advise me that I had no need to make another report and that if something on this same situation happened again to re-open the ticket.
Left it at that, I decide to play with my brother and another friend separate didn’t told them what I found out but did said there was some shady stuff going on that I found out and that I was just going to play in a different group, my brother and the other friends followed we mute the Whatsapp group, Archive it and created our own so to create no drama we passively and discretely exited the group without existing. lol
Not sure what happened and don’t want to know. I haven’t talk and haven’t ask him either, until last Saturday were he invited the friend that is in our group to join him in Classic with the Owner that they were playing and mention the levels and how many alts he had. (The was no answer given, someone talk about FF14 and I responded to just move on the conversation and hide his obvious silence)
My intention was not to hurt his game time fun and did what I thought was right… but man, I never in my life would have thought that such a good straight arrow person he is in real life had such a mischievous dark side in online game! I guess everyone has their dark side and the online world is the main stream to vent it out from what I have experience it seems lol!
Apparently this is not their first nor it will be the last, I’m sure with the confidence they both spoke they be able to get their accounts back by appealing if Blizz has or did something, since they have experience lol. For them apparently this is normal
So I just took myself out of this mess… this sounded like a $#!t show waiting to happen and I want to stay as far away of all that shady stuff as possible.
NOTE: If your wondering who the other person who join me and my brother is? He is a hardcore PvPer been friends with my brother since childhood we help him in PvE and he help us in PvP… he join us after a HUGE fight because my Account using friend who try to get him to “carry” him in PvP to get some tmogs…not sure how that’s possible but that’s why he decided to exit group with us, apparently that also a big NONO and can get you ban too. (I didn’t even know this was a thing tbh)
Not sure how Blizz catches this kind of stuff I literally stumble upon it by pure chance and would have ignore it if the situation wasn’t so open and we didn’t have to explain every time someone that join ask. Kudos to the Blizz team on this because this type of situation must be a headache even with the tools they have!
Hope this helps anyone unfortunate enough to stumbles into this type of issues… and for the rest hope you never have to go through this, like never EVER, its really uncomfortable game experience!
Thank you for those who took the time to help… it really did HELP in this weird trip adventure I had with my irl friends! Sad that we had to split the group but to each their own devices at this point in our adult life! ![]()
Seee ya in WoW! Thanks again…
