As holy I really enjoy it. Throwing out armaments feels impactful. And the amount of passive healing I get from random armament procs is crazy.
I don’t see anyone playing anything but herald of the sun.

Not really a healer but I feel like Herald just has the better theme going on.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Herald also deals more damage?

the weapon armament buff proc damage to allie’ counts as yours, same as the new blessing of summer. light smith is good if you are going for preventable damage and high crit judgment spam. each time it crits, it splash heals.

I prefer the theme of buffing people.
I have no idea about damage or healing stats. I just think it’s funner.

Personally lightsmith is just more fun to me. Outside of wings herald does not do it for me. Both are good in my opinion just depends on your play style.

, 1 talent in it is already near useless.
Almost all the nodes barring the first and last are very uninteresting. Proc chance on damage and damage itself nothing to be proud of.
The visuals are very underwhelming. For a class thats about magic no hero spec has eyecandy.
Feels clunky to use and meant to be fire and forget. Lightsmith as a theme is the coolest of the three spec but as it stands now , implementation very cheap.
I keep repeating cheap and just like lightsmith, other hero specs feel unfinished (totemic is the second biggest offender who greenlit this?)
I didnt mention performance because hero spec needs to be fun first

Lightsmith fantasy is cool.
It is far, FAR behind Herald in PvE content as far as healing output is concerned, and healing checks are relatively common this xpack so far.
I hate that the armaments are on the GCD. Also feels kinda clunky that when I get a proc armament or get it from wings, it caps at 25 sec if I use it again instead of going up to 40sec.

Seconding the complaint about Armaments being on the GCD. The glut of Shining Light procs is great, but without the necessary power behind it for prot it feels like the hero talent tree just gets in the way of the baseline spec.

Lightsmith is definitely lacking in fantasy and power. The extra gcd is annoying. The hero talents aren’t fun, shared resolve being my biggest annoyance, it’s a completely useless and unfun talent. I wish the visuals were better, they feel very half assed, not what you’d expect from a small indy company like Blizzard. Heals are less than herald and the damage isn’t anything that sets it apart from other healers. Lightsmith is what I want to play class fantasy wise, but it definitely feels like I’m gimping myself by picking lightsmith.

Being on the gcd definitely hurts. I’m slowly making my way in to m0 then I’ll start m+ and I’m noticing how much more work it is to heal through moments of high damage compared to herald. I’m still determined to make it work though because I do still enjoy it more.
I’m holding out hope that blizz takes a look at it and gives it a little help. I can’t find any high level pallys using it (probably a sign that it’s not doing well at all) to copy so I’m just using my own build. Which I doubt is optimal at all.
I was hoping for some big cool looking Light weapons but in play I could barely tell I had summoned a small bronze sword… Wish it was cooler

i do more healing than herald pallies in my pug runs. the less player plays lightsmith right now the better cuz it feels like disc priest from pandaland.

What’s your talents? I’ve tried a few different things. I haven’t had a lot of time to experiment yet.
For holy in particular my thoughts:
Lightsmith is very strong in m+ with AC. It lets you dps much more than you can as herald due to the passive healing. That being said if no healing is needed herald absolutely demolishes lightsmith for dps - this rarely occurs in pugs though. HPS for 5 targets is very comparable for the 2 specs. You can run might and lightsmith or AC and herald but you would just be gimping yourself both for dps and HPS.
In raid it’s not even a question since dps doesn’t matter for healers. Herald HPS dwarfs anything lightsmith can put when the target count is high. The only way lightsmith could compete is if blizz makes more weapons pop in raids but I doubt they will do that.
For prot:
Lightsmith is unquestionably better for pure mitigation with pretty much the same dps. If you are running Templar it is just because you enjoy it. Although there are changes cooking in the ptr…
