How do you remove real name from app launcher

I have a family member who found out his real name is on the launcher, this is causing him some stress which he doesn’t need at this point for health reasons. So how do you remove it,we tried to use the enable feature but it doesn’t remove it.

If you got Friends of Friends and Real ID disabled here:

I don’t really think it matters if your name is visible on your own launcher?

On their launcher or yours?

My launcher is only showing my bnet tag. So I am assuming your launcher, in which case you both are likely more then B tags friends, and are Real ID friends. Only friends by Real ID can see the name, anyone else would see bnet tags.

That maybe but why is it there in the first place?

No one here can answer “why” questions because the people who make those decisions don’t read here in the Support forums or accept feedback via anyone else who does.

Furthermore, the developers of the launcher aren’t the developers of World of Warcraft, so you’re doubly distant from anyone who can answer your question.

Finally, I’ve never seen the developers actually answer “why” questions like that. It’s their choice and you either use the product as it is or you don’t.

Because it seems to be pretty standard. Any website where I am required to log into an account (bank, mortgage company, cell company, etc.) typically displays my name at the top of the page.

What is displayed on your family member’s desktop app is just that… displayed on his desktop app, no one else’s.

I’m not assuming anything as I obviously do not know the reasoning or whatnot that is the root cause of their name causing stress. So please, absolutely nothing offensive is meant as I know it may be a bit on the delicate subject matter side of things - it’s just covering all the bases. Nothing more than that.

If it is due to the concern of privacy that others can see their information? That part’s been covered, more or less. It’s greeting the owner of the account and that’s not information that anyone else can see.

If it is due to there being a previous owner of the account and seeing that person’s name is causing them distress? That’s a whole different can of worms as the ONLY exceptions are for an account going from a parent/legal guardian to a child or the account is being claimed from a deceased relative - this is unequivocally against the rules

If it is due to a person who is transitioning or has gone through (or is going to go through) a legal name change for whatever the reason? The name can be changed with the proper documentation.
