Like others have said before you can check warcraft logs to see someones gear. However, there is another website that compiles information from warcraft logs:

If a person has any logs on them. This website compiles what gear they have and when they got it, how many clears they have on a raid dungeon, their first and last clear of a dungeon.
Of their PVE gear setup. May be useful may not be. Depends. For instance, it’s pretty useless if you’re trying to figure out how dangerous someone is in World PVP.
IK this is a Necro Post, just wanted to add some clarity. Anyhoot, it does help that I am on an RP Server, however like this post suggests, there’s no telling if it’s my RP Set or Battle Set

Thanks to life kicking my butt this phase I havent been able to raid so it’s showing an out of date set, but that’s pretty neat !!
I just make my own logs and upload them to show whatever I want. It’s pretty easy to do, I wouldn’t depend on the data there.
we’re talking about gear, not numbers.
And it’s pretty pathetic you have to fake your own performance when minimal effort gets decent parses.
Oh, I didn’t say I was faking performance. I just like putting up odd data there, like putting on odd sets of gear and the sort so if someone looks up my character they get complete nonsense. I don’t care one bit about how my parses look.

i wish i knew i am missing a couple of my accounts. I found out the names by achievement but i cant remember what realm i played them on

Two things.
ONLY the Standard Game’s Characters Achievements and Gear is viewable.
Classic Characters, you can “guess” their Gear through the picture of the avatar.
Otherwise, both game versions of the characters Servers can be viewed, when you read the URL, when you view their activity. Private or not, doesn’t hide the URL.
