How do you kill in plunderstorm?

so I ALWAYS die to the very first person I encounter every time without fail, both full health, both attacking, yet somehow I’m dead and they are barely less than half health.
How are they doing so much more damage than me when I can barely even do anything to them?
And no this is not some late-stage thing, this is, I’m barely even at 500 - 1000 plunder
how do they do triple my damage?

Are you oceanic? Could be lag.

They’re higher level than you.

nope, they are legit same level

I doubt that but ok let’s say that’s true, you must have picked up sucky spells.

Or it’s a skill issue.

Edit: Are they hitting you first?

First guess is charged spells
Second is placement: I.e not being in their full cone of attack

I die less quickly if I’m more guerilla warfare taking shots from afar and more if I go Rambo John Cena

Since it’s RNG, one of the biggest factors right after 1st drop is what powers you get. Some powers are better than others, especially at low levels.

After that, your ability to dodge and use your abilities comes into play.

Hey, I’m right there with you. It’s like a curse- I always seem to bite the dust in the first encounter, no matter how high my level or how long I’ve been plundering. I’m all about that plunder, trying to rack up as much as I can to hit the daily or current reward multiplier, and then I’m off to the storm, dodging any stragglers. It’s a strategy that’s surprisingly fun. But what’s not fun is the endless loop of trying to take down someone who can wipe me out in a blink.

If you guys are just going to cringe around the map, trying to pve, then yeah anyone with good spells that gets the first hit is more likely than not going to win the fight.

I was going to say “Git gud” but you were actually trying to git gud

I’d say is a bit of RNG too because some powers are drastically better than others.

They probably have all ability slots full and some upgraded. More abilities wins all other things being equal. Just run around and get gold it’s better time value, unless you are pretty good and can reliably win the pvp

like half the powers suck. and generally if you run into someone who actually knows what there are doing you loose 1000 times out of 1000. I Typically just die and move onto next match. I’m there to muddle through for a few coins to buy the crap I want.

This is so true. A couple of powers are rather overpowered if you get them early on.

Most abilities are avoidable. Are you perhaps dodging less damage than your opponents?

OP’s experience sounds eerily like mine any time I’m in a 1v1 in pvp. Essentially, it sounds like you’re just not very good at it. I’m basically just another NPC to any opponent that happens across me because my brain doesn’t work when fighting humans. :dracthyr_lulmao:

You have to get better RNG with the spells and where you land. Get out there and get luckier.

I was encountering the exact same thing and I was wondering if maybe they were doing something different in the pre-match area before getting out into the open world or if there was something specific in the open world that they were going for that was increasing the size of their character and the amount of damage they were putting out. it’s highly possible they were part of a premade group who are circularly farming, and each person gets a different shot at being the person to win each time and landing in an area loaded with elites. Then again it could just be coincidence. I wish I knew too.

Honestly if you die all the time, you’re probably just missing your spells lol
You’re spamming your melee button right? It’s not a hold or auto attack.

Are you actually hitting them?

The main ability needs to be aimed and has a short range
