How do you feel about Ion's reasons for removing master loot?

You should link it first of all.

I don’t think you will ever see ML again unless you play a Classic server.

The RNG I am referring to is the system in place that defines what is in weekly chests, what you get in Caches, and what does or does not drop off World Bosses.

versus

Loot tables for each mob instead of just 1 or 2 items and then gold and azerite and nothing else.
Chests with their own loot table that can rarely include greens, blues, and even purple items.

Basically reasons to still do content even if you “got the good stuff already”

I do understand that RNG is more encompassing, however when you say “RNG” it is as you say a buzzword so most people know exactly what you are refering too without been a salty snot about it.

Obviously ML in full guild groups (even if 1/20 is a PUG, PL would be forced) is what organized raiding guilds want. It wouldn’t remove PL guilds from existing, just giving guilds the option. Loot council still happens with PL, there’s just a bunch of wasted loot in the process of getting everything tradeable as well as the convoluted aspect of swapping specs to bait out items so they can be tradeable in the future (i.e people all switching to the Slapper spec for Ra-Den weapon so they can trade it down the road)

But making all loot 100% tradeable under PL is a good compromise that I think we’d all mostly be happy with. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be. iLvl is hardly indicative of upgrade anymore and it sucks not being able to give an item you don’t want to someone who does just because of iLvl

ya I completely agree. I don’t think master loot is really needed but if they wanted to have it in the game then it should only be for 100% guild runs. its disabled as soon as anyone not in the same guild joins the raid group. People would still complain but your never gonna please everyone anyways.

Personal loot really works very well - much better than the previous drop system. However, master loot is fundamentally incompatible with personal loot, because it’s designed for a system that doesn’t pay attention to who the loot is getting dropped for, while personal loot is designed, obviously, to change the loot that is dropped.

I also think the current loot locking system is fine, and with respect to trading is better than the Shadowlands system where you can’t trade downgrades from your cache, though there are other advantages to the cache based system.

Ion’s reasons are valid, but there are also a lot of other reasons why personal loot works better than master loot.

I think he fell victim to a mentality that isnt healthy for the game. He also made it so you cant trade an upgrade because he didnt want people to feel pressured to do so.

Hes protecting sheep.

My only problem with PL. if it’s an ilvl increase or not it should be my personal decision to trade my personal loot.

Player agency, but you can’t trade everything and you can’t choose to use ML if it would be better for your team.

Pretty weak reasoning IMO

that’s hardly coddling tho lol

It’s also really annoying to consider that most of the complaints of ML post-Legion loot update (which made it so you couldn’t PUG with ML) were probably from situations where someone willingly signed up to an ML group with loot rules and then felt like a crime was committed when they didn’t get an item.

So that 1 person probably opened up a ticket while the other 19+ did or said nothing because they understood the loot rules, meaning the only voice that was heard was that 1 complaint completely invalidating the rest of the groups thoughts on what happened with the loot.

I don’t doubt there were lots of tickets submitted, and knowing Blizzard they want to cut costs wherever they can so not dealing with those tickets is better for them… but there were probably so many falsely reported claims of “abuse” that people weren’t able to defend themselves from

like people report people for killing them in WPVP and we’re supposed to believe that people were rational about their loot complaints lol

It absolutely is. “We know that some people might try to pressure you to give items away. Instead of telling them to f off were going to let you say you cant.”

Not only would it help the sheep but it would allow the wolves to learn that some of the sheep will fight back.

Ya, simple fix to try and make the game socially a better place. lol those wolves are only wolves cause they cant get punched in the face behind their computer…a less toxic environment is only a bad thing for the people desperate to abuse it.

I think it was one of the best ideas Blizzard has ever had. No more ninja looting. One of my last memories of the old way was on my mage, and the DK tank rolling need on a valuable robe from the final boss.

Really old news - 100s of threads on this already.

No. I am not slandering anyone. Just asking who people felt about something that is public knowledge.

Im just gonna roll with it one way or the other…ya it would be nice to freely trade loot but I get it…at the end of the day it doesn’t change much for most people. This will end up getting changed again down the road anyways.

I like the way it is now, if it’s a upgrade you can’t trade it works fine. Personal loot works fine. Guild can’t try and make you give up your loot. I have gotten to the point I never even loot anymore, I just let it be mailed to me that way no one knows what I have.

If you can trade an upgrade…then you can be forced to trade it. Pretty much creates the ML scenario all over again.

There is a reason they locked it.
