Like really, I don’t see much guild recruitment, people be wanting 6k+ gs for 10man ICC normal, or everything is GDKP. How does one do things on wotlk classic?
At this point, if you’re a new player, you just give up. The power creep in Wrath is outrageous, you won’t have gold to buy gear, and you’ll be kicked from every gamma.
And even if you did slog through normal heroics, then alphas, betas, and gammas you will only end up with gear equivalent to normal Ulduar after a few months, and you’ll still do half the dps of an ICC geared player.
Honestly that’s what I do. Log back in every month or so, realize I started late, can’t get anywhere, then quit again lmao
Yes, you buy gold and join GDKPs. That’s what Blizz has reduced Wrath Classic to.
It’s Wrath’s power creep that’s the biggest issue, and I’ve been complaining about it since day one. Just poor design of the game. In both vanilla and TBC, a good but undergeared player could outdps a bad but geared player. Nobody was top parsing with Kara gear in TBC, but you could bring Kara-geared players to BT and not sacrifice the raid for it.
In Wrath… no. Gear alone is the only determining factor in your value as a player. That’s why the gatekeeping has become so bad now. Even the difference between an ICC normal player and a player with bis ICC heroic gear will be thousands of dps. You can be a terrible player with 6k gearscore, and you could just afk and do white melee attacks to a boss and still beat the Naxx geared players.
It’s the worst design flaw in WoW, and I don’t think it gets any better in any future expansion. Blizzard has tried repeatedly to remedy this problem in Wrath Classic with the heroics dropping sidereal essences/scourgestones to buy raid gear, and the alpha/beta/gamma dungeon difficulties dropping better gear, but then players just insta-kick players with low gearscore anyway.
I may only be 210 ilevel on my hunter, but oh boy am I trying hard I guess the only way is to AFK a lot waiting for queues and farm the currencies to buy items so maybe I can one day get accepted in a random ICC run.
I started from scratch a few days ago cauz I am excited by Cataclysm (Yes I am, yeah really, I love the raids in Cata!!)
I personally don’t - but if I did, I’d do it with a guild. finding a guild would be my top priority.
if we truly aren’t getting a Wrath 4Eva server – and all current signs indicate that we are not – then I kind of wish I just stayed at Level 79. I could just do all the quests – I’ve only cleared Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra on 4 characters – RDF myself some normals, and enjoy the 79 bracket and Wintergrasp.
Having to wait for Icecrown to get access to iLevel 232 (5-piece) and 245 (off-set) gear – PLUS NO RDF beforehand – real buzzkill.
No option to transfer my Level 20s from HC to SoD either.
You farm BGs/WGs for welfare purples then go into gamma.
Stop blaming Blizzard for what players have done.
Stop blaming players for Blizz’s terrible decisions.
Designers need to understand human nature and guide players where they want them to go.
And actually maybe Blizz does. This is what they want: a playerbase of bots and whales.
I still login daily.
I’m working on achievements and stuff. According to AllTheThings addon, I’m at 76% completion right now. Waiting on Cataclysm tho, as then I’d be able to go back get all Vanilla raid achievements (skipped 2019 until TBCC release)
So I’m basically going around doing all achieves. Got “Well Read” today. Right now on FP heading towards Darkmoon to get missing frog pet. Going after all pets and mounts.
If you’re going to play Cataclysm (and you should give it a shot), start prepping for it.
Just get some Pvp gear, get your professions maxed out. Just be ready to roll for pre-patch content.
And in the meantime, just chill and don’t over stress it.
Classic community can be quite harsh some times. Big belly 40 year olds got pretty high parse reqs for pugs. xD
Wrath is awful tbh, don’t know how anyone can enjoy it
Well with the decline in wrath since 11/03 the best case would be to use lfg to get dungeons at the gamna level. If you can pug voa10/18(spec run) you can get a spot. But for voa10 if you are a scumbag no one will be able to compete with you for gear. The best times are also important doing raids on monday/sunday might have looser gear requirements for those who would prefer gdkp but don’t want to waste a reset.
Which is quite a shame because if you thought wrath was full of whales and bots then just wait until you see how many whales and bots cata has, wrath could have been a really good casual experience as it is ridiculous the level of gear one can get without setting foot in icc. The first three expansions age like wine with players getting a critical mass of gear and then casuallificating the content. I really do miss given how great wrath is that blizzard pulled the plug and well before 11-3 wrath was popping.
True and based
Anyways, Wrath is over, time to prepare for the sundering.
that’s a generic statement. what is your goal? for example I am leveling my alt resto shaman through rdf while i am leveling his two professions and making some gold.
I stopped raiding just before ICC release, no desire to do it again having cleared during its original release. However with stopping raiding @ 5500 gs, I occasionally log back in to see players running around with > 6300 gs. Meh… whatever.
Having done what I wanted to do in classic WOTLK (get plagued proto & legacy ZG tiger mount), I felt no desire to continue raiding after TOC
Guild is your only chance. Depending on server you could possible find a pug that does the first 4 bosses to get started but the usual pug stops after saurfang because they dont understand how rotface works and they fall apart. If you don’t want to do GDKPS guild is your only chance at this point… and try to lower your expectations dont expect to join into a 12/12h right away those guilds arent looking fresh characters unless you’re a friend of someone there…
As someone mentioned gammas is also a good source but prepare yourself mentally because it can be really taxing if you heal or tank (dealing with pugs)
Then join the GDKP, get some gold, join again, buy some gear.
Rinse and repeat.
Congrats, you’ve done something in this game
THIS. This is where I am at as well.
For whatever reason, it seems pretty standard for everyone to be miserable and even outright nasty to each other. We’ve always known that there’s games within the game that only certain psychotic players would engage in, but it’s become common place for people to literally stomp on others to advance in the game, resorting to some of the shadiest behaviors!
Long story short, I joined this patch about 4 weeks after ICC dropped and since I couldn’t find a team, I decided to create my own. The problem with that is Blizzard has pretty much set the standard, and that standard is, if you join late, you will be mocked, manipulated, and be treated with imputence.
To try and build your own team as a result of being outcast for returning late, you’ll find nothing but entitled players who fail at mechanics, fail at class basics and they wonder why I can’t carry them to victory in a sea of players with bad attitudes and entitlements. People WILL take advantage of your genuine efforts to play this game as an actual gamer, with no thoughts of knocking you down to get up there with their GDKP/Carry gear and toxic BS.
This isn’t gaming. It’s a gathering of mentally unfit.
tf? Hows blizzard is to be blamed for this?
Are you getting mocked by GMs? Are you getting manipulated by Bobby kotick? Are you getting treated with impudence by forum mods?
