How do you defeat depression

I like magazines instead of social media. Even picking up a newspaper during such a walk. Everything I see is catered to the culture anyways, the professionalism of magazines can help in building a consistent outlook.

By getting off this cesspool of a board.

It it very simple. Diet and exercise. You can go see a therapist, who will put you on meds, and the side effects may possibly cause problems for the rest of your life. OR you could eat clean, practice intermittent fasting, and get at least thirty minutes of cardio per day and lift weights every other day. It works. Cures other ailments as well. Give it time though, doesn’t happen overnight.

Stop whacking in the tool shed.

Omg.

Lol. I’m 39…and I have around 20 coloring books of all kinds and like 10 cheap boxes of colored pencils.

They do take away stress. I swear by it!

To defeat Depression, try meditation and prayer. Don’t mask it. Get hope —which means discard the negative and selfish thinking and see your true cosmic self.

My go tos are exercise, beer, and a solid volunteering gig (which may not un-depress you, depending on what you do, but will provide a nice sense of perspective and purpose, or at least free training). Obviously, all of the three can be a mistake at the wrong time.

I also left a better paying job for one that was actually more fun and fewer hours, so, you know, if your finances will allow, a fulfilling career can do wonders.

And if you’re deep in the pit, find someone to talk to. Preferably someone trained, but if not that, just reach out. Librarians and police (IF you’re in a small town with friendly local cops) frequently have crisis training.

Stop projecting…

in my experience therapy is useful if you are literally having trouble getting out of bed in the morning and living in the world

once you are reasonably satisfied it can be hit or miss and can sometimes do more harm than good

I once went voluntarily to a psych unit because I believed the green day songs and thought a psych ward was literally just you sitting in a padded room taking 48 hours to decompress under the watchful eye of medical professionals.

Then I saw the reality that it was like a slightly less edgy state prison that forces you to take meds and go to group therapy sessions where they tell you to get a job and wipe your butt.

Well first of all you gotta shell out some gold to find a healer with the ‘mental help’ spec, they’re pretty easy to find if you’re Pugging.

Make sure you queue up for one too, though they usually have you on a waitlist but if you send them a /tell and give your ilvl, they’ll be able to drag you through the “Mental Quagmire” raid and help you defeat the final boss, Depression.

Got some tough mechanics, but luckily the mental health specced healer is there to carry you at least.

You them boys been whackin in my tool shed?

I had a therapist, many years ago. Say,…“have depression?” Get a dog.

So I got 2 and a cat.

No more depression.

By avoiding pressure many symptoms can be negated, after that, it all depends of the depression type:

Major Depression, therapy is most of the time required, depending on how the depression affect body & mind a medication is preferable.

Persistent depressive disorder, this one is tricky because of its nature, if we talk about a dysthymia it can be solve with simply outdoor activities or anything which naturally favorize some key neurotransmitters flux.
In the case of a neurasthenia it becomes more complicated, the problem here can comes from a tremendous amount of sources.
There’s no need for a medication but psychologist & physician (and maybe some other kind of unexpected kind of specialists) are required to identify the source(s)
A neurasthenia can last few years, in rare cases it can be a lifetime, what isn’t clear is that maybe it’s a natural state (or a phase) in some individual, unfortunately science isn’t quite able to answer this question yet.

Bipolar disorder., here professional help is required and there’s no cure. But most of the people affected by this disorder live a quite good life when handled right.

Some people need to feel positive emotions to be happy, some others don’t need it, the most important is to feel all right with ourselves.

I’ve been fighting depression for 25+ years. Even on medication from doctor, Herbal remedies and even CBD and THC. I still have it. It’s not a light switch to turn on and off. There is coping strategies but overall it is a life long battle. The most important strategy is to have determination to fight it. To do this do things that make you happy and resist that sadness as much as you can. Put yourself in happy situations. Get some books, comedies, hang out with friends.

Your going to have ups and downs. People who been fighting depression for 25-30+ years knows what i’m talking about. You can try every medication and treatment known to mankind. All that will be in vain if you don’t have will power and determination to fight it.

It’s is okay to tell people your not okay. Go see your doctor if your really feeling bad.

So Ive been finally making some headway against my own issues with depression. After many years working nights Ive finally moved to a normal daylight hours gig. I take medications, get at least some light exercise, take suppliments for D3 and flax seed oil for omega3s. Getting extra sunlight when I can. Also microdosing has helped a great deal. Its not a magic bullet but it all adds up. I just have to mitigate it as much as I can and keep on going. Ive accepted that I will always live with it but I wont let it derail my life more than it already has.

I mean all of the major philosophies say this, that life is suffering. Buddhism particularly acknowledges it quite simply. Depression seems like a modern-day word for something we’ve been dealing with as a species since time immemorial.

Life can just as simply embody in the easing of suffering. Confusion, misappropriation of what the world is capable of solving.

Well, I can say as a matter of fact, LGBTQIAP+ youth would not face anywhere near the depression rates if we were not bullied, harassed, oppressed etc.
